"the ricer STI's."

DragonGcoupe please dont' use the world ricer when you dont' know the true meaning. And i do not think STi is a ricer car bcuz it doesn't need stickers to give it "extra horsepowers".

Re: torn: STI vs G35C

The two cars are totally different ??? If you even have to ask then get the STI...because the g35 is not made for doing 0-60 in 4sec and blah blah blah.. it's about Balance...

Anyways just get the STI...that's what you really want..

Oh yeah Mixed the STI does look like "RICE" sorry wouldn't be caught dead driving a STI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! even if it does 0-60 in blah blah blah

Re: torn: STI vs G35C

i honestly like both cars.. obviously, i own a g35 coupe, but the STi is one badass car.. like what the others said, they are in totally different classes.. one is a raw performance machine, while the other is a luxury car with more than enough power IMO..

in regards to the STi, you can easily remove all those pink emblems.. the car is simply awesome.. i actually like the looks of it.. again, to each his own..

good luck with your decision..

Uh, given that he asked this question back in March, and that he hasn't made a single post here since, I think he already made his choice. So everyone can relax.

"ricer STI"? Man, another reason to hate ricers. Finally a car comes along that actually needs the hood scoop and wing and has earned the tuner stickers by virtue of having actual race tuning, and it's still guilty of poor taste by involuntary association.

Hahahahahaha Mixed, your so damn funny. Thats the point man. The look has been ASSOCIATED with "ricer" already. That style of car is done for, you FEELIN' me. I'm sure I know the difference between the STI's 300hp and AWD vs a 160hp Civic DX with a 100 dollar aluminum wing.

The point is bro, that when most people look at the car, they will associate it with "those ricer cars", whereas our Gcoupe can be parked next to an M3, and yet be respected.

Btw, can anyone confirm this to me about the STI. I recall a friend telling me that rally racing regulations call for a 2L displacement at the max? Is that true? If it is, then wouldn't the STI be disqualified?

WRC rules do specify a 2 liter cap on engine size, and I believe that for homologation purposes, STi models outside of the U.S. are more highly tuned variations on that engine. Subaru opted for the 2.4 liter in the U.S. because Americans are used to having low-end torque.

It's not worth #!K I can tell you that... I look at that car and I think 21K tops... I can't beleive that someone would pay that much for it. The styling is just too immature.

Re: torn: STI vs G35C

yer in the same boat i was in all summer long...after months of research and browsing STi forums, i decided to get an STi over the Evo...i drove my friend's STi and was completely sold. The car is insane.(period). BUT...i didn't like the fact that a sunroof wasn't even an option, and there were no floor mats, and no stereo. pseudo-auto climate control was ok. so after months of research, i decided to walk into my local BMW and Mercedes dealerships to check out cars in the same price range. the 330ci and the c230 kompressor both had very nice features over the STi that i simply needed for spending 30K on a car(heated leather seats, sunroof, stereo, floor mats)...then i decided to walk into the Infiniti dealer just to humor myself, and there she was, the G35 coupe...it had everything i wanted. STi and bimmer/benz are on two opposite sides of a stick, STi being a sports car(laugh if u want, but this car can kick **** in the power, handling, and stopping departments, and these guys are pulling 12.8 quarter miles bone stock) and the bimmer/benz being on the luxury side...the reason i went with the G is because it was a compromise of everything i wanted smack right in the middle of the stick. It has more power than the bimmer/benz, but less than an STi. it has all the creature comforts of the bimmer/benz that the STi does not. and it looks so damn good as opposed to the "dime-a-dozen" bimmer and not "too fast and furious"...this is all of course IMHO, but i just believe that the G has wat i want, with the power and looks to back it up...i guess all you have to do is decide on wat u want out of a car and narrow it down from there.(sorry for the long post)

all i gotta say...

u want speed? smoke almost everyone on the road? something easy mod, to get LOTTA HP just from bolt ons? get the STI!!! (i would get an EVO 8 over STI... thats just me)

if u want "ok" speed... smoke most of the ppl on the road... nice all around everything... NOTHING can beat a G35 w/ the same amount of money...

Re: torn: STI vs G35C

The G35 Coupe looks 100x better, no doubt. It also has the amenities that most people want.

However, to sit here and compare the performance aspects of both cars is a joke. The STI out of the box is a much better performer, hands down. People have been mentioned the fact that the G gets its 280 horses from N/A, which is silly as hell since the 300hp generated by the STI's turbo is MUCH easier to modify in the long run.

The STI is a better handler as well, no doubt. The performance of both cars are like night and day, just as the comforts are. You have to decide what type of car you want - I think the G35 is the type of car that you could keep until it dies. The STI seems like a car that you'd only want for a year or two, or as a second car. It doesn't look that comfortable and the looks..well, I'm sure most guys grow out of that phase at one point or another. I like the way it looks, don't get me wrong, but the huge spoiler and hood scoop just attract too much attention. I'm sure if you hit the streets in that car you'd get challenged by every ricer out there.

Re: torn: STI vs G35C

I looked very seriously at the WRX STi before purchasing the G 35 coupe.

Totally different car. I liked it, for what it is. A hot performing out of the box sedan. But it is small, very light, feels and looks cheap. It moves like gangbusters with the AWD. The EVO looks nicer, tortures its 2.0 litre engine with more boost than the Subie's 2.5L powerplant, but is the real comparison car here, not the G35. And, if you were to match up the performance numbers with a TT Porsche, would you put the Subie in the same league as a car? Most decidedly not. There is of course so much more to it. Here is the bottom line, for the dollar spent, and the raw results given, the STi is an incredible value. The body and interior are poor...but that is because the beauty is in the motor, drivetrain etc. That is why it is affordable performance.

It really is an issue of what works for you and your desires as a motoring experience. A comparison of the Town and Country Minivan with the Durango can be made.....but while both do many of the same tasks admirably well...they do it differently, which is why Chrysler makes them both, and sells a bunch of both. The operative element to the choice however is not as much about superiority in machinery, as it is personal satisfaction with the approach taken.

Truly there is not a "wrong" answer here as far as which car to buy.....but the "right" answer can only be found in what is going on in your brain and heart that will provide confidence you made the right choice for YOU. In my case I know that I made the right choice, and that if I had bought the Subie I would be very unhappy right now with that decision. There are a bunch of folks driving the STi that have to be ecstatic that was my choice....or at least the one guy that got the car I would have otherwise deprived him of!!
