Road work car damage?

Well the other night, I was driving down a small back road and im going about 40-45 MPH and right after the top of a hill there was literally a 4 inch curb all the way across the road. There was no "bump" sign or any type of warning, the road crew had shaved off some of the road then just added a small strip of asphalt in an attempt to make a ramp up to the higher level of road. so it was like hitting a mini speed bump going 40 mph straight on.

Now i have an 06 coupe with sport suspension and compared to my last car, this suspension is much tighter then what I am used to. It sounded and felt like it hit pretty hard and I am very worried i might of messed up suspension/bent rim/or alignment. The car doesn't pull in any direction while letting go of the steering wheel and seems to ride fine, but i need reassurance!

Can you guys give me some insight on experience with hitting bad bumps with these cars? Also would you suggest I bring it in to a shop just to have it checked out? and what would an experienced mechanic look for that could have possibly been damaged?

the fact that it doesnt steer any which way when being let go of should be assurance enough. It seems fine. Unless you heard a metal clank noise nothing else should have been hit either. It never hurts to get your wheels realligned butthere shouldnt be any problems

You should be fine, but at your next service get it checked out. If that's in a while, then you can go to a shop just for the peace of mind.

thanks for the input. I think i may bring it in and have it looked at so i can sleep better at night lol.

I have noticed a rattle on the inside of the car that i don't think was there before. very annoying...it also seems like the light from my headlights shakes more now when i go over small bumps on the road. this may just me over analyzing everything and noticing things i didn't before. but yeah i need the peace of mind.

This makes me think twice about lowering my car which i have been considering...also my tires are starting to get there who can make the best suggestion for all season tires for the OEM 19's?
