Door locking - can someone explain...
This afternoon I was getting gas and my doors automatically locked while I was in the middle of pumping my fuel. Is that some sort of security measure? Does my car know that the key fob was out of the car?
This has happened before and I do not understand why.
BTW I drive an 04 auto

The only time I have seen that happen is when I unlock my doors, but do not open them. i gues it is a security feature so that your car does not sit unlocked just in case you accidentally hit the unlock button. Other than that, I do not know why it would do it.

same here
This is interesting....
Does my car know the key is outside the car because I remote unlock it after closing the door? You know, press the unlock button twice to open the gas cap? Interesting...

when ever you turn off the car and take the key out once you close the door if you press unlock from that point (like to unlock the gas door) after a couple of mins the doors will lock on there own

that happens every time i fill the tank up. I think if you push the unlock button on the door, it wont do that. I always forget though, and have to push unlock twice on the key fob to get the gas door unlocked. I wish they just had a button for the gas door.
