G35c 6mt VS 911
Just thought i would let every one know.
About 2 weeks ago my friend came by my work (at the pentagon for all of you DC people out there) in his bosses 2003 956(911 but water cooled) convertbile w/turbo wheels 18/10 rear. I was due a brake so I met him out in the parking lot where he handed over the keys ( he owed me one ) and I took the 911 for a quick spin. early impressions were 1.much better stearing feedback 2. better balence, but I wouldn't call it role but it had more left to right movement but less front to back on the launch and braking. 3.extra 600+ rpm plus 35 poines are felt but less low end I think(this could be due to gear ratios)4.the stick is crisp feeling but all the gears feel the same where ours is vauge but persise ecxept the damn 5th gear( always miss it )5 the vsp dosen't kick in as much (maybe due to the 10in wide rear tires) 6. for a $90,000 car the interior sucks, people talk about ours but the seats are flat and shiny the radio is am/fm casset with a 1200$ 6disc in the trunk and4 speakers worth of well ,its [censored] man. The dash could have come from a 15000$ car and his didnt have hid lights or nav. Now on to the good stuff.
After a quick circle on Va 27 we go back to the pentagon and I get in my 2004 Crib blue Coupe 6mt nav areo. and lead the way, we hoop back on 27 and go to north parking to get on 110 to go up Ft Myrer Drive to get on the GW parkway going south by reagon airport. the drive from the pentagon was fun but I was in the lead and he needed to stay behind me then we hit the on ramp to 50east right before the GW split I drop down to 2nd and take off make the split to the right, downhill and reach 100 right before getting on the park way its about 12.30 at night(grave yard shift) so there were almost no cars. he was about 150 feet behind and to my surprise I was gaining space ( my friend is a good, and agressive driver) but then again I got a 1-2sec jump in the power band. a sweeping left hand turn was coming fast(about 125 at this point) and I brake for the turn and he closes the gap on me in a flash and then gains coming out of the ture but not by a lot a "foot every 2sec or so" but I had in inside line for the 20% right turn and explode out of it gaining my ground back but this time i'm at about 105 in fourth and he's creeping slowly up on me but we slow for the bridge right before the 395 exit and pull even for the rest of the time (5min) before we got to old town alx. Va we took turns pulling even and getting the jump. It might seam head to beleave but who ever got the jump walked away but very slowly up to speeds of 130-140. we stoped at a parking lot right after the 3rd light in old town and sat out the rush( there are a lot of cops on the GW sometimes and any thing over 80 in VA is reckless and over 90 they can put you in jail). He insisted on a stop light race so being the good guy I am I oblighed. we turned around ( had to get back to work). we wait for the first light to turn red and pull flush I turn my vdc off and as I find out later he left his on and I launch at 4200 rpm ( in retrospec it might have been a bit much for my 13000 mile old stock tires) on the green and shoot out with a big burn out in 1,2 and a chirp in 3rd he revs some a launches quick but stoderes when his esp kicks on and then his tires hook up and passes me soon after I went into 2nd and I would have never chaught up but he stops at the next light and we do the same thing but this time I get a better launch and he passes me at about 45mph in 2nd but stop pulling away as fast when I do my 2-3shift and we stop at the last light and deside to spare the clauches any more pain ( I lied) and when the light turns I get my best launch and GO, feeling 2fast2stupid I dont stop and he is hot on my ***, I red line 1,2,3,4,5 all the while gaining little buy little untill about 135-145 and he starts to close the gap I hit about 158 and some change in 6th and the car stops gaining speed and I watch as he goes by pretty quickly and we wind it down to about 100 as we go back to the pentagon and pull in to my spot and let it run while I smoke a cigg and we stroke our egos and high 5. What a rush and all I can say is how impressed how close our car is to a 911. Is 5-10% preformence and a name worth double the cash, as a car nut I think yes but I'm only 25 I hope to move up one day till then I'm as happy as a fot kid with some cake. I know my spelling is the worst and my typing skill only make it worse but I love cars and I thought some people would like my story. I have had these cars 71 "opel speedster", 86 "944", 93 "sc300 5speed",2003 WRX wagon, and now my baby. thanks for reading

Re: G35c 6mt VS 911
I'm not flaming you at all..just pointing out some things.
I've raced a 911 (Non turbo) up to about 110 and I'm not sure if you have any mods on your car but the guy did pull away from me and I have exhaust, cats and an intake. But I do understand there are different variables here (drivers, convertible, etc etc) The only thing that really stands out is you said you hit 158, and I haven't seen anyone on this board break 152, these cars are supposedly governed at 155.

No you didn't race a Porsche 956 and there is no 956 in 03, the last 956 is in 1994 and its a race car for tracks only.

Re: G35c 6mt VS 911
Good shi t I got up to 155mph in my car! it was fun. As for the whole porsche thing I don't like them I think they are too over priced. I drove a 02' 911 carrera the other day and it wasn't all that impressive but if it was like 45-50,000.00 I can see buying one but not for like 75,000 and up they are tripping and your right the whole interior is garbage! the only thing I like about the one I drove was the alcantra roofliner NOTHING else.

Re: G35c 6mt VS 911
He raced a 996 non-turbo.
Curb Weight = 3023 lbs.
320 HP/273 Torque
0-60 = 5 sec.
Top Speed= 177 MPH
911's types take time to appreciate, but once you get confident with them, there's nothing like it. 150 MPH in a 911 will not be soon forgotton. It is a near racecar experience. I had an '88 ten years ago and sold it, then bought an SUV because I thought I needed a more "versatile" vehicle. BIG Mistake. They may be pricey, but 911's hold value very well. Even so, the G is still a great value for the performance, it just really is a very different car compared to the 996.

Re: G35c 6mt VS 911
1st it was a convertible I have done some tasteful mods and plan to get 3 more ecu, 75 shot and headers. and if you read my story i never took him off the line but at speed we were very close I tryed to keep the story as close as I could remember it, and I'm pretty sure the 2002's have 315hp but not 100%. The whole point of the story was to show how close our 35-40k car is to the benchmake of gt/sport cars the 75-150k 911 my friend has all so broght over his bosses SL55 and 89 countaush(sp?) those were fun but not close.
