Premium gas
When I had my 06 Maxima I was told by the Nissan people I did not HAVE to use 93 octane, it was recomendded to get the most performance out of it; same thing when I was looking at the G37 and a M35...do I have to run 93 in the G35 or can I use 87 and the computer will pull a degree of timing to compensate for the lack of octane?
if you can't afford premium gas for the G35, you probably can't afford the car
yes, you can run 87, but it will bump the timing down and the motor will not run as it was designed
pay the extra $3 a tank and get 93

Use premium, it is what's recommended in the manual and is what the car was engineered to perform best on.
Honestly the price difference is so minimal if you pack your lunch once a week instead of going out, you've easily made up the difference between regular and premium for two or three weeks worth of gas. And if that amount of money is going to wreck your budget, as people above have already said, sell your car and get something cheaper

I understand all the posts about don't buy the car if I can't afford the gas; that was not my question; I know in other cars the computer pulls timing if it detects high IAT's, knocking, etc and wondered if the G was the same way.
The Hyandai Genisis advertises 375 hp with 93 and 369 on 87 so the technology is out there for the engines to run on either..

No it's not really something you should do. There have been cases of pinging, and most of the time it's so small that it's hurting the engine but not audible to the human ear. Seriously bro do you really need the extra 300 dollars a year? Just give up eating dessert or fast food or something. And seriously, if you are getting the mods in ur sig, then you should use 93. Man up.
300 dollars for extra horsepower, better gas mileage, and better reliablity? It's a no brainer.

Nissan employee recomendations....?
Nissan/Infiniti sales people, service writers have their opinions which quite
often are wrong! If you'll read your manual and follow what it says to use
inside the gas lid you'll be doing the right thing. The dealership/stealership
would be more than happy to sell you a new engine when your warranty
runs out....

I have a 2K SE MAX and since I bought the G, I rarely put premium in it. More often than once when I've drievn out of town the pinging on medium grade is crazy scary. As soon as I fill up with super, it's gone. It's your car, your money, your engine. If the $3 to $4 difference per fill-up is too much,
DON'T BUY THE D@MN CAR, IT'S SO NOT WORTH IT!
As simple as that. I love both my cars and have no problem spending money on them.

kinda funny, but in my town in anaheim i was watching a gas tanker fill up the station, he filled up all the tanks with the same hose connected to the same part of the truck...lol is there really a difference in the gas or a government con
haha can i do a test on the gas somehow?
