Cheapest way to getting a new key?

folks

I need another key for my 07 G. My wife loves to lose car keys. Is there a cheaper way then going to the dealer and getting a replacement key that is OEM or close to it?

you can buy keys online for cheap. problem is only the dealer can program it.

programming and cutting

I just got a key cut and fob programmed last week for a second key that was provided by the dealer. The bill for labor alone for the key cutting and fob programming was @ $185.

are you talking about the transponder key or the key fob
key fob ( unlock / lock doors, open truck ): this can be programmed by you, do a search for key fob and you should find the instructions on how to do it. . . its pretty easy
transponder key ( used to start the car): this must be programmed by the dealer or a locksmith.

Option 3: Inteli - key
this can be programmed by the dealer or a locksmith, assuming the locksmith has the correct equipment

locksmiths carry compatible keys with transponders and can cut/program them for you.

^^ that is very area dependent then. I called all the locksmiths around me and everyone said you had to go to the dealer.
