First Winter with my G35
well since winter is comign and i recently just bought an 05 g35 6mt, i live in Massachuetts which will have snow, the g35 is my first manual transmission car and its gonna be my first winter in it (also my daily driver) soo is there anything i should be careful with and look out for. i was told to get snow tires and i have no idea where and what to get so if any1 could help me out with my winter set up it would be great.
I am also going to be winter driving my 6MT. Just take it slow on ice and dont give too much gas in the corners. Also a good set of winters tires would help greatly.
Does anyone know if a set of 17" wheels would fit over the brembo's?

Drove around Boston for 3 winters with Blizzaks LM-22's on a set of OEM 17" - I don't have Brembos, just the '05 sports package. And with the exception of the Noreaster for December 2007 (when all of greater boston was on the roads for 8 hours), I never had problems and highly recommend it.
Good luck ;-)

I don't have brembos since I'm an Auto, but I would check out Tire Rack....When I purchased my winter setup, they were about the lowest price for my combination.
I purchased 4 ASA KA3 17" rims, and put 4 Dunlop Winter Sport M3 225/55/17" Tires on them. The total for the package including mounting balancing and hardware shipped to me was $1,400
I believe ASA now have rims that look similar to the stock OEM 18's.....but they come in a 17" in size as well......They may fit over the brembo package
Snows will definitely make a difference during the winter weather. Just use common sense and drive conservatively especially starts and stops, and you will be fine.....good luck.

Hey dude,
It's good to see another Mass. guy on here. I live in Raynham, but can't offer much help in the way of driving a G35 in the winter, since I put mine under wraps from usually mid November until late march or early April. I drive my 4x4 Toyota Tacoma whenever it's rainy out(all year) and as my full-time winter vehicle. You can get through literally any amount of unplowed snow that Massachusetts will throw at you with a respectable 4x4 and good driving skills.
I don't dare drive my G in snow/ice because the body and rims would take too much abuse from all the road salt and it has terrible ground clearance for those storms that lay down more than 3 inches of snow.
Whereabouts in Mass are you at?

Hi Guys,
This is my set-up in detail:
OEM 17'" (8" front, 8.5" rear) w/ Blizzaks LM-22's: 225/50R17 fronts and 235/50R17 rears. This set-up gave me a difference of less than a centimiter (1/3 inch) from the OEM 19's set-up and was perfect.
Got the wheels from ebay for $500, inclding shipping.
For the tires, I printed the tirerack prices and went to town fair tire who has a price match garantee (did back then anyways, and it can be any online seller, not just tire rack if you find them cheaper on another site). Plus, when you buy 4 tires, set mounting and balancing are free. Total: $700
- Total set-up price: $1300.
- Going 75mph on 93 north in the middle of a blizzard with 3 inches of snow on the road and passing highway snow plows in NH on my way to Loon Mountain : Priceless.
Hope this helps.

From experience I can tell you that with a RWD car and any substantial amount of snowfall, it's snow tires or nothing.
Whatever you do, don't let them give you a false sense of confidence. Still treat your car like what it is - a RWD car in snow.
One more piece of advice - if you're stuck, turn VDC off, because otherwise VDC will cut power and you'll never get out.
