Burning Oil...

So I know and read all about the TSB on oil consumption and the REV engines. I fall right into that catagory with an 06 MT. I just want to be sure of something before I start to pursue this with a dealer. So I check the oil levels and differant intervals and it's about half way on the dipstick. Doesnt seem like it's getting lower, not at a very noticable rate anyway.

And I do try and go easy on the G 90% of the time. However when I do get on it on the freeway and take it up to about 6K from 3rd to 4th and I slow down I smell whats seems to be oil burn. It last for only a minute or 2 and then it's gone. Should I just keep monitoring or should I maybe go get an oil change at the dealer and just mention it.

I picked this car up with 15K miles and a clean carfax. While I know nothing promises a good history it seemd to check out. But the dealer wasnt an infiniti dealer. Every car they sell is still covered under manufature warranty. Anyways but should I at least take it to an infiniti dealer for the first few oil changes so they have me on record somewhere?

i've got a very similar issue to you. Im going to the dealer to start the test at my next oil change, which is in about 1000miles.

right now i've driven 2550miles and it's down 17.5mm.

I would take it to the dealership and start the test ASAP just to get it documented in the computer. It can't hurt.

Bro it's not gonna burn oil because the past owner didn't take care of it, it's gonna burn it regaredless of what you do. Start the OC test now, it's gonna take 3,000 miles to complete.
