Got my first damage to my G and I'm proud .

I scraped my passenger side wheel while parking in a end parking spot. I have had the car for a year without any dents of any type. What works for me is always parking on the end spot with the concrete stop. I hug the curb giving the one car that can park next to me plenty of room. These spaces are a long ways from most spots and avoids taking up to spots that tick a lot of people off. Anyhow, I accidently scraped the rim and noticed it the next morning. It wa a good swipe, but I am proud of it because I did it and not some other jerk. I messed up,but it is my car and my mistake and I can live with that. I read many of the posts about how some cars got taxed and feel bad for the owners. So I am laughing about my mistake and will decide how I will fix it.

I curbed my right front when I had like 900 miles on it doing the same thing. Then I was so pissed I just parked in a normal spot.

When I came out, the two cars I had parked between were still there so if I just parked there to begin with, I wouldnt have damaged anything dammit.

Not so easy. I was turned down by many shops because they did not have the right paint to match the G35 coupe rim color.

Each OEM rim costs about $1000 if you have the 18's. Shop told me they couldn't match the rim color.

Re: Got my first damage to my G and I'm proud .

you should ask your dealership to recommend someone. they usually hire an outside company to fix rims of new cars that come in. when i got my g, all was perfect except i noticed a tiny scuff on the front drivers side rim that i brought to their attention. they said they had a guy that fixes rims as a side job and made an appointment for me. chances are your local dealership has one too, and he should have everything he needs to fix it like new.

hey watch out man,

if you search this forum you can find few people who got their wheel repaired and in some cases they didn't match the color and so one wheel was a bit darker than the others. i spoke to a wheel repair shop once and they told me the color would match better if you bring one more wheel so that they could match the color better. good luck

I hear you on damage. If there has to be some, you'd like it to be by your own hand.

i had my coupe for 4 months and no curb rush at all.. within the last month, i have curbed 3 of the 4 wheels.. it's almost as if that one perfect rim is askin for a little rubbing :P

and don't bother repairing them.. definitely jus upgrade.. NISMOS!!

Re: Got my first damage to my G and I'm proud .

I also scratched my rim pretty bad after about a month of ownership. I was pulling up to a curb and still didn't have a good feel for how far out the the car extends from the drivers cabin. Needless to say I pulled up to a curb and put about a 3 inch gouge in the front passenger's side wheel.

My dealer's recommendation was to go to their preferred body shop. I went there and the guy told me that the repair would cost about $200 for what he called "refurbished". He mentioned it would look "good as new". The shop guy also said that more then half of the people that bring in G35 coupes have some kind of gouge on their rims. Guess it's pretty common.

Re: Got my first damage to my G and I'm proud .

After having my G all summer looking nice and keeping it damage free, I was proud of myself, I hit a deer at about 10 mph. The dumb thing did a little dance and then ran in front of me. the bumper was slightly messed up and the hood peaked a little in the front and the grill and Mt. Fuji had to be replaced. But I felt better after that and I wasn't so stressed in keeping it nice anymore. I just keep it nice without the stress now.

Actually now that I think of it, when I want to try and park my G close to the curb, I will first park it relatively close to it and parallel with it. And then I will lower my side mirror to see the curb and wiggle my car in from there.
