Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

I'll have a Dyno chart for it soon enough. I'm sitting in a hotel room in Nashville right now, getting ready to go meet Doug to drop the car off. With all the mods I'm expecting between 380-400 rwhp. Also, I have the 'windows up with OEM remote' mod, that adds at least 25bhp, but due to the inefficient window motors only about 8 of those ponies reach the rear wheels (that was a joke)

Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

Hehe, I finally met Doug this morning. He did mention that he is totally out of stock on almost everything. I guess one benefit of dropping my car there to have them work on it is I move to the top of the 'waiting' list! It is going to be a long two weeks of waiting!

Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

I think its fair! Seriously though, you have to remember that they are a shop. They make most of thier money off of labor, not off of selling parts (this is an assumption, but from all I've seen I would say it was a good one). I would compare it to Mcdonalds making Cheeseburgers for the patrons inside before making Cheeseburgers for the drive thru people.

OK, that comparison sucks, but you get the picture. Sometimes in order to make labor dollars to have to shift things around a little and work with the customer whos car is sitting in your shop!

Be patient and your cats will be there before you know it!

Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

JEEZE kp.....

i guess this was taken a bit too personally (my comment to blame) ..... i was just sayin, its been three weeks, and i am still waiting on the cats.... i know how 'customer waiting' goes (regardless, they should have the BO'd flanges in and be ready to ship early next week....)

you've been very fair w/ shipping to me, and i hope to get more of the KP components in the future (window up, rev. mirror tilt, egress assist).....

i hope to hear more, and soon'

Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

I was basically just making conversation You'd be amazed at how boring it is to drive from Nashville to Columbus! Thank God for wiresless internet! And, I totally understand where you are coming from. I was actually surprised when Doug told me he was behind X amount of plenums but since my car was there he would make sure I got one (of course no waiting on core return helped and the fact that I was on the fence as to get one or not)

Shouldn't you be out installing your VDC module?

Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

Yeah, I'm getting everything they offer. Like I said, I was on the fence about the plenum, but I figured they have my car and they are willing to do it so I might as well go for it. I'm not expecting any gains out of it due to the fact the car will be supercharged.

Also, like I told you before the module isn't hard to install. You can buy a soldering iron at WalMart for $8. If it doesn't come with solder that will be like $3 and another $3 for electrical tape. A soldering iron (and solder) is a great tool to have around a modded car. All wiring should be soldered. Of course, I've been soldering things for almost 10 years so its easy for me to say all this!

Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

I just spoke with Doug and my car is done. In his words, 'it's so fast its almost scary.' He says when the boost starts to kick in the car pulls like crazy. I can't wait to pick it up this Friday.

Again, I had Crawford headers, plenum, and high flow cats installed, Pro charger Super charger, JWT flywheel and clutch, TS flash, PE 380cc injectors and my fuel system modified to a return type.

Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

That's going to be one FAST car. What psi do you plan to dial in on the SC?

Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

FINALLY! Now he can get to my car!

How did you swing the ECU reflash on an 04? Was yours before the low emissions cutoff or is TS ready and just not telling me yet?

Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

I am keeping the boost low, around 6-7 psi to try and keep the car as reliable as possible. Also, with stock tires I probably won't be able to hook up ever anyway!

My car was built in 08/03. I preordered it the first week they accepted preorders so my ECU was the same as the 03s. Lucky for me!!!!!

Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

KP-

we have very similar tastes... i decided to go w/ the vortech kit (for many reasons), but have done basically the same to my car (sans headers)... i have gotten insane numbers w/ my fujitsubo not even arriving yet....

heres a concern (and valid i have come to learn)...

heat

alot of it!!

have you changed out the thermostat yet??? coolant hoses??? or the radiator itself???

things to consider, for sure.. i went with the nismo LT unit, and 350Z samco hose kit (tight, tight fit, but it works fine) to help combat the added underhood heat.... my next trick is to add the stillen oil cooler kit (about 1k cheaper than the nismo version!)

keep an eye on the temps! (i maybe overkill on this, but i prefer to be cautious w my blower cars)

-eS

ps- the vdc ON module will go on this week!!

:^)
