Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

I never considered the heat factor to be honest. This isn't my daily driver. I've put less then 6K miles on it in 9 months, and they are almost all highway miles. The cars main purpose will be show, and not racing, although I will get on it as needed. I'll talk to Doug and see what he recomends.

The whole package was between 12-13K, for all parts, install, and tuning by Crawford Z Car Services.

Dans the man

I spoke with Doug @ Crawfords today. My car is done and dyno'd at 380rwhp. I can't wait till I pick her up on Friday and get to try her out. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get those 20 more ponies....

Sorry for the poor pics, its all because of my camera phone and my stupid modem that automatically compresses graphics when I view them.

Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

A water to air intercooler should decrease the temp rise by at least 70F yielding 7% total density increase even with the boost loss thru the intercooler........you should be above 400 RWHP and less stress [heat detonation].

Even spraying a 4-6% water [by volume for gasoline used] into supercharger input........both would be awesome.......that way you could save some water for high boost and warm weather.

Glad you are spending serious money and doing it correctly, just don't blow it up and scare future superchargers.
As long as you stay under 125 HP flywheel per liter.
437HP minus parasitic drive loss from turning supercharger = ~400.........240 pounds per hour of gasoline 39 gallons per hour ~~0.646 gallons per minute

Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

Do me a favor get a $20 Radio Shack digital outside thermometer probe with 20 foot wire, drill a tiny hole in the plastic air coupling after supercharger before MAF and record the air temp under your accelerations vs outside air ---graph.

The real world data will be helpful for future comments and to decide your next cheapest mod.

Getting a really accurate recoring pressure gauge would help also to get a handle on REAL supercharger efficiency.

Adding more rpm/boost with a pulley is many times almost counter productive as you want the most boost vs COLDEST Boost vs least parastic drag...............only air temp rise will give you the data you need to decide.

Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

Just south of Louisville now, had to stop for gas. The only thing I don't like so far is that, acording to Doug, my car won't always [ever] start on the first attempt. He says it is due to the fuel system upgrade. It, so far, has always started on the second attempt. Doug said it just had to get the fuel pumping. If that is the case, shouldn't I be able to turn my ignition on for a few seconds and then start it on the first attempt? Hmmmm.... I guess thats one more module I'll have to start working on....

Wow, this thing pulls!

Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

What is this VDC module you guys are talking about? Is it something that would totally disable the VDC when selecting the off position on the VDC switch? I know in stock form it is still active to some extent. Sorry if that has been answered.

Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

The VDC module adds a 'memory' the VDC system. With this memory when you shut VDC off it will stay off until you turn it back on, reguardless of how many times you turn the car on and off. It works the same way with VDC on, if it is on it will stay on until you turn it off.

The drive home was amazing. All the way up until I got a speeding ticket. I was literally less then 2 minutes from my house, just getting ready to turn into a neighborhood. The cop was in the other lane coming at me. She got me doing 61 in a 40. Damn the luck, 4 speeding tickets in one year is really going to hurt my insurance..... (3 in my truck, 1 in the G)

that must have been a fun trip home, up until the speeding ticket. why should he get the radio shack one when he can get one of these Techtom CMX-100 N2. how you like it? hows it sound?

Re: Dropping my baby off at Crawfords

Well, I've had the car back for quite some time now. I get an occasional check engine light due to bank 1 and bank 2 running rich. No big deal since I bought an OBD2 reader so I can read them and reset them immediately.

At the track I ran a 13.150 @109.25 mph with a 2.1s 60' time. I can't seem to get traction with stock tires/ stock pressures. I'm going to get some wider rims with drag radials and hopefully I'll get low in the 12s.

My original dyno showed me making 380rwhp. My latest dyno shows only 350rwhp, but the car is running rich up top causing power to drop off at 6000rpm instead of rising like it originally did. If I would have reset my ECU before the dyno run I would have came up with much better numbers I believe (before I did an ECU reset my fastest track time was 13.6s, after an ECU reset I did back to back 13.1s).

Check out my dynos at http://www.kptechnologies.net/dynos/dyno.htm
