Car Stalled

My car has now stalled for the second time. Once after I put in my Injen intake and about 15 minutes ago. Both times I was just driving along and the car just shut off. The one about 15 minutes ago I almost got killed, but thankfully I was able to slam on the brakes hard enough to stop without damaging my baby. This wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that I have an AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. What the hell is going on? Also, has this happened to anyone else?

Re: Car Stalled

Yes, this has happened to other people. It's very likely caused by the CAI--or the way you installed the CAI.

Re: Car Stalled

This may be way off base, but just recently I received a recall notice for my old I35, (same engine, different hp), anyway, they are recalling a couple model years due to what they called a crank sensor, which if fails will suddenly shut down the engine, which in turn may cause personal injury due to lack of steering/brakes etc.....
I am not sure if it applies to the newer model cars, and like you said, you have installed the intake............so anyway its just a heads up on the recall that sounds alot like the problems some have been having on this forum.....

Re: Car Stalled

Sorry but you guys got it very wrong. When you install a CAI, you must reset the ECU or you will have problems. To do the easy reset, disconnect the battery (+ & -) for 12 hours. Reconnect and drive like hell. There have been numerous post about this, so do a search if you want more detailed information.
Also be sure to use a zip tie or some such modification to move the AC line away from the CAI. There are also post about the problem.

Re: Car Stalled

Yeah I gotta do the zip tie thing, but I don't know what the AC thingy looks like. I'm kinda scared to drive my car now because I can't tell when it's going to happen and all of a sudden my steering is gone and my brakes barely work.

Re: Car Stalled

Check the TSB's HERE. There's one there covering this issue to do with faulty crank position sensors.

Re: Car Stalled

I double checked my installation and it is the exact same as factory.

Re: Car Stalled

I suggested a TSB to do with the crank position sensor because you said the engine just shut off, and that you didn't slip it out of gear or any such thing. If the engine just quit, then I stand behind what I said about the TSB and that this varies from what others peeps have experienced with stalling from the Injen intall.

This is just an 'off the cuff' from the details you have provided.

K thanks. I'm going to try taking it out and then reinstalling it.
