1st supercharged 1/4 mile times

I went out for my fisrt time in my Procharged G last night. It was my first time with this car and 2nd time ever. Temp was around 60 degrees with the sun out. I just got new 19" Potenza S03's. I am dissapointed in my times. I took 5 runs. Traction controll off. My best time was 13.5 @ 105.09 and 2.185 60'. My best speed was 107.47 @ 13.65 & 2.198 60'. I just couldn't hook up the way I would like. If I rev'ed too high I got too much wheel spin and or wheel hop. I have to rev under 2000 and let the clutch out slow and not hit the gas to the floor unit 2nd and still spun in 2nd. I let some air out of the rear tire to about 28 lbs. I spun tire tires some to get the crap off them and to warm them up some.
I felt alittle better when I saw a 04 Z's times. He did 15.1 and 16.0 in his too runs. He said he got the better times with traction controll on!!!! ??? Maybe it was the track or maybe we both need to learn how to drive... Any suggestions?

I wouldn't be that dissapointed, if you can get your rear tires
to hook up your probably looking at a mid 12 second 1/4 mile
run based on your 107 mph trap speed. You should try some
drag radials, i think Nitto makes a pair.

Dissapointed with a 13.5 and you weren't connecting? What are you nuts, Id be pretty happy and confident that with the right set of tires, and practice launching that you have a high to mid 12 second car...Congrats

I'd be happy as heck. It means with drag slicks and practice.. You'll be into high 12's perhaps.

Thanks, but why does the dyno sheet on your cardomain site showing 8 psi?

I can only imagine what my TT will do (400+ whp at 7psi). can't wait

Not really. Too much power + incorrect tires is enough to cause wheel spin/hop that leads to traction loss which ultimately leads to a second or two off your time. As soon as he gets some drag radials and works on his launch, you will see his time improve. I say about 12.9-13.2. It's not going to be easy hitting mid 12's...

Just like everything else it will take practice to get better. Don't be discouraged.

Re: 1st supercharged 1/4 mile times

if I got some drag radials, should I put them on my stock 18's or go smaller? Where can I find them cheap and can I put them on any cheap rim? I just spent 3450 on my new tires and wheels...

How come you are only getting 5psi ? The ATI is rate at 7psi .I think going with a smaller wheel for the drag radials would be better .Im going with my stock 17's to put the BFGoodrich drag radials on

Couldnt afford it when young...gonna play when Im old

OMGHI2Wheelgap. Your car is pretty sweet, but it definitely needs suspension!

Re: 1st supercharged 1/4 mile times

going any bigger than 17s for slicks is not recommended.. bigger tired mean smaller and harder sidewalls ( good for autocrossing, high speed turns) but is bad for drag racing where the side wall needs to flex a lil bit and bite into the track during a launch..you can see this real well if you watch drag cars with huge slicks.. also this will help out with the problem of gettin traction.. hard and short sidewalls tend to make the tire skip when u launch the car but slicks with bigger sidewalls are less prone to doing this..
