07 g35 coupe....new tires. Looking for suggestions

I am looking for an inxpensive set of tires to replace my stock potenzas. this car is my daily driver and this weekend i got stuck in the snow traveling from college to back home in jersey for break. this isnt a race car although i like to race around in it once in a while. i am mostly looking for a comfortable ride with decent traction possibly in the snow maybe two or 3 more times this year. life is also a factor. currently i am looking into:

Kuhmo Ecsta
Sessanta By Vredestein
VENTUS SPORT K 104 By HANKOOK
NS-II Ultra Sport By Nankang
FK-452 By Falken Tire

what do you guys think of these tires? opinions?

the websites i have visited are tirerack.com and performanceplustire.com
if you guys know any better ones let me know. whats the cheapest site?

I have the Falkens and I like them, very good in wet weather.

My next set will be the Vredstein Sessentas though. Based on your list I would go Vredstein, Falken, Kuhmo.....and forget the other two. Snow will be a challenge for all the tires you mentioned as they are "High Performance Summer Tires".

Wink

I just put some Nankang ultra sport tires on 245/35/19 and 275/35/19, and they are pretty good. I do not recommend them for racing. I only used these tires because I only travel to and from work a total of 16 miles, and I don't race my G. The noise level on them are really quiet, and for 19's they are very good with bumps in the road. I live in Florida, so these tires are very good for warm weather, but in reading reviews about these tires up north. They are 50/50. I recommend these tires only in warm weather states.

Go with the Kuhmo's or Falken's. Like I said I only got the Nankangs, because I have 19's and they are decent tires for the price, and I live in Florida which I only recommend those tires to be used in.

yeah, so im thinking the nankangs wont work for me because i commute fron NJ to west virginia through those damn mountains its kinda hard, i got stuck in snow friday had to wait for 2 hours for infiniti roadside to come pull me out. im prolly gonna end up going with kuhmos or maybe even another set of potenzas even though i swore i would never buy another set. funny how things work out.

Yea that really sucks. I am happy that you were able to get your car out ok. I wish I could recommend these Nankang tires to you, but I am lucky to live in a warm state. They are very quiet when driving, and work really well with the bumps in the road. I would never lie to someone and recommend them to someone who lives up north knowing it snows. Even when it rains I notice they are a little slippery, but not too much. I can only imagine what it would be like in the snow. If I were you I would definately look at those Kuhmos, but potenzas are nice also. Let me know what you decide on getting, and good luck with it.

Sounds like you should invest the ~$850 you are going to spend on tires and mounting and buy a used set of winter wheels/tires. Look in the marketplace here and on my350z, even craigslist.

Which Kumho?

Ecsta is like Potenza; it's the name of the line, not the model.

I know you said you were most likely not going to get them but I would recommend the Falken FK452s. I just bought a set and they are great. I noticed right away that they are much quieter and look great in the plus size (245/35/19 front, 255/40/19 rear). I can't tell any difference in performance from the stock Potenzas yet but I will really test them out when I participate in an enthusiastic driving event through the hill country of Texas for 3 days.

go with kumho ecsta. Best bang for the buck tires, and plus they come in stock tire sizes.

i have the Hankooks on my rear at the moment and stock Craptenzas on the front. likely have to replace both in the next 6 months.

i'll prob be going with the Kumhos. i like the price, have read excellent reviews about them and have driven and 05 Coupe with a new set and was impressed.
