But no, save the money if you want, because obviously having $100 more for food, beer, or an inch more on a TV is better than your $30,000 investment.

So the better gas mileage talk is crap. First year drove completely premium, 2nd year drove complete regular. Same gas mileage. No knocking, no stalling, sputtering, nothing. You only loose power pretty much. Now that gas has dropped I've been back to premium for a few month, still nothing change really and gain a bit more power. Also you really only notice the power difference when you are pushing the car hard. If you are planning to go out racing everyday then go 91-100 Octane else you can put in whatever your heart desires.
Note: Me switching to regular for a year saved me $7.00 a tank, given the difference in price between regular and premium can easily be $0.40 around here. And since I commute from San Francisco to Palo Alto I save about $650 a year, not to bad. Anyways back to premium now.

I was filling up my car this morning and happened to notice on the inside of my fuel cap there is a sticker that says something along the lines of "Premium Fuel Only" or something of that nature. I understand how you are trying to save money but in all honesty its not worth saving a dollar or two on a tank of gas or having a good clean running engine. Premium in my area currently is at $2.09 a gallon. $32 bucks this morning to fill up. That will put a smile on your face!
