A good year.

Hey guys, as some may know I own an FX, but I'am currently selling it to put money down on a house.

Anyway, after the FX is gone, I'll need something else.
A G is in my likings. I was curious as to what year would be a reliable one?

I know this is a vague question, but I obviously won't be spending 20k on it.
I just wanted to know what year would you guys shoot for if you were to buy one in 2009?

I did search BTW, and came up on some other stuff...

I would get anywhere from an 05-07, depending on your price range. I would personally get about 06 6MT with maybe 40k miles. It still has about 2-3year/20k more warranty on the powertrain.

It might have Oil Consumption though, that's why you have the warranty, basically you get a brand new engine for free or you have an OC free engine. Although the 03-04's don't have OC problems, they do have a less nicer interior and more small problems like window motor, BOSE draining the battery, etc.

5AT- '05. 6MT- '06(for more warranty time.)

Good Points, I thought about the OC issues with the MT's.

Honestly, I'm shooting for AT though just my preference for now.

The interior will probably bother me, since coming from an FX with Black/Basketball int. was incredible. You do not see many interiors like it.

The window motor, hmm, my mom had a 06 G coupe and that had the motor problem... we ignored it and sold it as is. Only gave problems once in a blue...So not really too worried about it.
The warranty however, will probably bother me too.. but considering I might get an 04'-05'.. O well...lol.
06' I think would be a bit too much for me price wise..

Reliability is really what I'm shooting for.

I won't be able to spend over 18 this time around....

I def. don't want an 03 something more around 05.. Think price range wise, it'll be manageable?

I really hope so...With some decent mileage, nothing over 45.

I noticed that you live in Florida, and I am looking in that price range, and it is very hard to find an 05 in that price range, because they are still around the 19k to 20k. I am still doing some searches for you.

Get an 04. The only real change will be the interior/gauges, and it's not even that big of a deal. You can also get Brembo's, but those may be out of your price range since those are rarer and therefore the price higher.

Thats not true... there have been a few cases of the new engine having the OC issue as well haha

If the OP is looking for AT then the Brembos are out as they are only offerd on the 6MT

get an 03-04... there biggest issue is in the manual transmissions and since u want an AT, thats a non-issue... i see them dropping in price(12-14k range)...theres a solid motor, no rev up issues, AC system is pretty solid. Perhaps some interior issues, window motors and what not, but if a window motor is its biggest concern, id take the chance...but really get the newest one u can in your price range.... all it takes is someone wanting to get rid of it and u bein ready to buy... and as far as interior goes, i dont think your gonna be as happy with your FX with anything any G has to offer with the exception of brand new ones, ....
