What Am I Looking for? Help Me Find it!

Hello,
I am looking to buy a G35 6MT for around $20,000. I'm not sure about the differences between the model years. Are there any outstanding differences that would sway your decision such as: newer versus older, tech upgrades, interior changes, mileage? Are there special models to look for? Thanks for your help.

In short, these are the basic changes for model years. All are specific to the 6MT.

03-04:
Brembo Brakes
280hp/270 tq
Plastic interior painted to look like aluminum.
Speedo on left, RPM on right.

05:
New gauge cluster(see youtube videos for the difference)
Speedo on right, RPM on left.
Rev-up engine
298 hp/ 260tq.
Plastic interior replaced by authentic aluminum
Oil Consumption issue(See sticked thread for more info.)

06:
Projector headlights
New Taillights
Bluetooth
different spoiler and front bumper

Warranties do transfer over, the power train is 6 years/ 70,000 miles, basic is 4 years/ 60,000 miles.

I would go for an 05-06 coupe with around 30-40k miles, should be in your price range. Will have nicer interior, and also if you have the Oil Consumption issue, you get a new engine for free.

I just bought my 6MT last week. Its an 04 with 58k silver/tan with brembos and spoiler for 14700.

I buy cars for one of the largest automotive groups in the U.S. and have the opportunity to see what any vehicle is worth in an open wholesale market. There is about a 3000-5000 spread on the G35 coupes from what a dealer might pay at an auction and what they might price it for. Someone who is looking to buy one from a dealer may have more room to nego than they realize, especially in a struggling retail auto industry.

Let me know what you're looking for and I can give you a ballpark figure of how much the car may have been sourced for.

I'm new here, but I've been reading a lot and will be happy to offer some insight /advice to anyone

i'd go for a 06-07 if you can afford it. imo the differences and added resale value due to the age are well worth the price.

in addition to what was stated above, a few more key differences between 05 and 06/07 models:

Bluetooth (w/ Prem Package)
New Taillights
New Headlights (Projectors)
New Spoiler (w/ Aero Package or optional)
New Front Lip (w/ Sport Package)
Intelligent Key (w/ Prem Package)
Drivers seat and steering wheel memory (w/ Prem Package)
Active Rear-Steer System (versus Passive - w/ Sport Package)

I really appreciate your guys help. I'll have to do my homework a little later for a specific car as I'm taking finals right now... I'm curious to know if you would rather buy from a private source or dealer? What about differences in location. I live in Los Angeles but go to school in Texas so my choices of where I can buy a car have increased. Where would you buy a car from?
