Thanks for all the feedback. Looks like this problem is somewhat isolated so I'm going to take the chance and if there is a problem there's always the warranty. I guess with any used car there is always some risk of OC.

I'm probably going to take a shot at a 06-07 because I like the bumper, lights, and minimal updates. Other than the obvious carfax stuff and general mechanical soundness.. Are there any other particularities I should be looking for while checking out the car?

Thanks again for all your responses.

I've got an '06 and just had the engine swapped. It was burning over a quart every 1000 miles. You'll know pretty quick if you have the problem. But my Infiniti dealer was great. I went thru 3 oil consuption tests and they swapped it out. It took two days but so far no problems and I have a new engine at 23k miles.

06 6MT with 23k miles, no problems with OC here. I too burn about 1/4 QT between oil changes. Only thing that has gone bad so far is the driver side window motor regulator. The motor works fine but there is a reset switch on the motor used to let the motor know when then window has shut all the way. Get the rev-up, you will love it. Especially with the gains associated with the MREV2 and a spacer

05 6MT coupe with 32k miles...never consumed a drop of oil.

My dealer said that the oil consumption problems are mainly due to using the engine to brake on a manual. Not sure if this is true or not...

06 6mt I had the oc issue (about 1 qt after 1000miles). at 19k I got a new engine under the tsb. Took two days to install. I have almost 25k now and the issue is completely gone.
I feel like I go to the dealership about once a month for warranty issues though. engine, some gasket on the new engine was pissing oil (got it towed back for free same night i got it back), shift ****, driver seat track, front wheel bearings, rear diff, cd player. I bought it used with 12k and ive only owned it for a year. I love my g despite all the trips to the dealership. They treat me excellence everytime i show up btw.

Check the front and back bumpers for any repaint. Dealers tend to do this as a quick easy fix for rock digs a suck for eye candy. They tend to not do a real good paint job but if you look closely you'll see it.

Wow, your post scares the crap out of me. But I think I will go ahead and look at a few Gs this weekend looking out for the stuff you pointed out. THanks
