Should I be worried?
Should I be worried?
Dealership called me today because my 6mt coupe finally arrived! Now I won't be able to complete the purchase until next week but I decided to go take a look anyway. When I got there the car looked great, except I ordered it with the Aero package and there was no rear spoiler. My salesperson told me that they install the spoiler there and it will be ready by the time I pick up the car next week. Only thing is, all the coupes with rear spoilers have the break light built into the spoiler, my car had a brake light built into the rear deck, which none of the coupes with spoilers on the lot had. Are they going to remove that brake light? Will this look retarded combined with the brake light in the spoiler? I'm confused, am I worrying myself about absolutely nothing? Thanks guys
Re: Should I be worried?
They basically screwed up your order. You'll get a spoiler added on, and will keep the now fourth brake light. I feel safe in saying that there's a group of people who've had it done post-production (addition of the spoiler, that is), that have been less than thrilled with the results. The combination of having four brakelights (it's illegal to disconnect the 4th), sometimes a bad seal with the trunk lid, and random detritus ratting around in the trunk tend to be the most common complaints. I'd tell the dealer "Wow, it's very nice of you to comp me the aero package and a year's worth of oil changes because you messed up my order!" If they don't agree, thank them you for their time, and go find your car elsewhere. They didn't deliver the good as promised, so you're not on the hook for payment.
But that's just me. I tend to be dry in these situations... I don't deal well with un-kept promises-- Especially when I signed on a dotten line to keep my end of the bargain.

Re: Should I be worried?
Yeah Geo is right. You signed a contract for a specific car and a G isn't cheap. You should get exactly what you wanted or be entitled to a little extra to make up for their mistake.

I'm inclined to agree with Geo and havok. Get what you ordered, not an afterthought that they'll try to match up to your order.
BTW - besides the trunk mounted wing, there are many aero-pieces (faring) mounted under the car on factory built aero-equipped rides. I know this because I purchased and mounted the major ones for my ride and have seen the micro-fiche of all the pieces. I doubt you'll get any of those pieces.
As far as the 3rd light goes, I wouldn't want the extra one in the back window, and it sounds like if it comes on the car, it must be functional. That won't stop you from removing or disabling it, but you don't want to even technically break the law over something you didn't want in the first place.
I personally wouldn't want anyone messing with my trunk either. (to mount the wing). From what I've read, it could be the source of too many issues.
If it were me, I'd say no to their offer, and if they can't or won't deliver as promised, I'd go elsewhere. You'll be glad you did in the long run.

Re: Should I be worried?
Thanks for all your thoughts guys...I sent my salesperson an email, requesting that I be comped for the Aero Package. She replied saying that because I didn't place an order and wait 90 days that technically it was ok to have them install the spoiler at the dealership. I contacted her back telling her that thats BS, I called them and requested an inventory seach for a vehicle with these exact options, she informed me that they had one arriving from Japan in a little over a month, so naturally I agreed and waited. Never was there any mention that we found your color combo overseas and when it arrives we'll install the options. This is crap, I'm going to give her one last chance to earn my business or else, sadly I may have to walk.

A salesperson should never EVER say "well, technically it's okay for us to..." That's just an indicator right there that they want the job done in their best interest, and they don't give a flying f*** whether or not you're happy with the result.

Re: Should I be worried?
I ordered the following car on March 15th:
DG/G/6MT/Prem/4-Piece Aero/Trunk Mat
The dealership has called me 3 times to tell me my car was arriving, only for me to find out that it was a car that did not exactly match my car, instead it was them wanting to make the sale ASAP. I am now dealing directly with the manager of the dealership, and he has confirmed that it was totally lack of professionalism what has happened to me. They get your hopes up so much, then crush them when it comes to payout time. My car is supposedly arriving June 18th. I have been told that they called Japan to find out what options were placed on my order, and they are confirmed to be exactly what I wanted.
The short of the story is that every time I was told my car was arriving, it ended up having some variation on the Aero kit, usually missing the front-lip spoiler. It has taken 3 times of me saying NO NO NO for them to hopefully get the f'n clue that I WANT THE CAR I ORDERED, NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS. I guess we will see on June 18th.
Don't take anything less than what you want. If anything, there is a principal involved.
