Sliding on freeway in snow
hello guys.
so i was driving on the freeway 80mph and it started to snow heavily. then i feel my car is a little shaky and i was trying to slow down and change to the right lane. thats when my car starts to slide and turns like crazy on the freeway. it amazingly ends up stucking in the emergency area without any accidents and nobody got hurt. i got out with the help of a big truck.
it was a big relief that everything was ok. but when i drove back to socal, the car acts a little abnormal on the freeway. it shakes when running on the freeway with grooves and my low tire pressure warning is on. however, when i go to dealer and check the tire pressure, they said the tire pressure was good. i dont know what is going on.
im hoping someone could help me out here. sorry, my english is not that good, so you may have difficulties reading this.
thanks

A couple of things come to mind: First, did you hit the curb? A dented rim will definitely shake.
Second, are you sure the shaking while driving on grooves is new? My sedan is seriously loud when on grooved pavement, and if it's bad enough can act twitch.
Finally, am wondering if you unseated one of your tires (i.e. the bead slipped a bit). Best bet is to go to a tire place, have them check and balance your tires.

no i didnt hit anything and i have my car checked by the dealer.
they said everything was ok and the only problem is that the right lower control arm need to be replaced. but thats the problem i had before.
also my car didnt shake that bad before the sliding. i figure something must be going on with this car.
now i feel very unsafe to drive on the grooves because it does the small shaking pretty bad.

The shaking is most likely due to a warped rim, or misbalanced rim(due to one or several weights falling off of it when you had your incident).... or snow/ice that is still stuck to and packed inside the rim/tire.
If it hasn't warmed up yet to above freezing where you are, the ice and snow stuck inside your tire is more than enough to throw the balancing off. Once it warms up, or you wash your car, that should go away if this is the case.
If it's the case of a wheel weight falling off, you will need to get them rebalanced. Question.. why do you need your control arm replaced? That would seriously mess up how your car drives if it was bent.
Oh and drive safer too... you don't just suddenly change over from dry pavement to tons of snow soo quickly that you would not have time to slow down from 80 MPH. I know this because I've lived all my life in a place where it snows heavily all the time.

i changed all my tires after the incident because they were worn out before the incident, so i dont think the warped rim is the case.
also dealership did the balance for my tires too. i was asking them to do the alienment for my car too, but they said they had to replace the lower control arm, or they couldnt do the alienment.and i have my car inspected by them, they said everything was ok with my car except for the lower control arm. they were asking for $350 to replace it including the labor fees.
i have been driving this car from Las Vegas to LA, and its been 3days already, so i think the ice attached to my car was gone.
i dont know what else to think here. im going to have my car checked again soon.

I don't know much about driving in the snow (would probably end up in the same situation as you ). I just wanted to say that your English is 1000 times better than many posts I have read. Thanks for that.
