Got a 07-08 G35 Sedan Loaner, I think it'll whoop my 05 6MT's ***!!!

So I dropped of the car at the dealership to get the radio sticky button fix and tear in the seat.

They gave me a 07-08 G35 Sedan , Auto as a loaner, holy **** is the high rev motor faster. I was in shock when I punched it, wayyy more torque and I got to 70 like nothing!!

I just got my 05 G35 coupe 6spd and holy **** does it feel under powered after driving this and its an AUTO!!! I gotta say it shifts fast as hell for an auto, no lagging or nothing!!

My question is what the hell did they put in these motors that make them so much faster. So far I know it has the higher redline (7.5 rpm) and the dual intakes, but come on this is a night and day difference!!

My brother was telling me that Performance Factory was dynoing these stock and making 300WHP STOCK!! He said they are realllyyy under rated and have way more HP then Infiniti claims.

So what's the secret in this motor? Because I want it in my coupe!!!

Yea I'm having alot of fun with it. However no one answered my questions, what makes the HR motor so much faster then the rev up motor? (besides the dual intakes and higher redline)

I think that the most you are feeling is a better pickup due to the dual air-intakes. I'm not an expert, but that's more air in the motor faster, so as soon as you punch it, it's really working the motor immediately.

Here's all the info, it's pretty much a completely new motor. Look under the engine section of the post:
http://www.infinitihelp.com/Infiniti...escription.htm

BTW: They changed the torque curve on purpose to make you feel like your are constantly hard accelrating, instead of a real quick jump at the start and then just normal accel on the way up. In addition to them making it faster, they also made it FEEL faster. I think.

EDIT: I doubt they dyno over 300whp stock. I think the 330hp G37 is doing around 280whp stock.

The VQ-HR has different internals, and apparently Nissan did a lot of work to make it faster out of the box; if you check out the reviews link in the '07 sedan forum, you'll find some descriptions. No way they're dynoing 300WHP stock though, none of the ones I've seen are anywhere near that.

Nissan didn't exactly tweak the torque curve that way though: Apparently (read this in an article, so can't guarantee it's true) in the previous Gs the torque was artificially limited so as to continue building up to peak. In the HR, it's tuned that way but the engine isn't limited to exaggerate the effect.

Also, it actually makes something like 6 more HP at high speed due to the dual intakes
