07' 350Z engine vs 05' G35 engine

Hey guys,

Just wondering does anyone know the difference between the two engines:

Higher output VQ35DE "Rev-UP" engine 298 hp

VQ35HR 3.5 L (210 cu in) V6 306 hp

i was looking at my friend's 350z engine and i noticed it had the dual intakes which look pretty damn cool..

i noticed the same engine is in the g35 07' sedan..

anyone care to comment about this?

You just stated the difference yourself..

an HR motor will take a crap on a revup motor any day..

I had an 07 G35 sedan loaner with the HR motor and I was able to take that thing up to 8000 RPM.

the HR may seem to only have 8 more peak hp than a rev up, but the HR makes a lot more power all across the board.

Would that HR motor from the Z fit in the G35?

Yes in a G coupe, I'm not too sure... I'm sure its possible but its a big motor so you may have some issues with that. I haven't seen it done yet.

More like 15-20 whp more than the DE.

And yes, the HR is superior than the DE in almost every way.

HR motor is probably swappable if you have the cash. =/

Which equals to thousands of dollars. I've heard GTM offers this service now.

I'm glad you admitted that Henry.

Don't think peak hp ratings. Think torque and area under the curve. Or just drive a HR35 equipped car and see. (even with the higher weight, the differences are very apparent)

Yes you're right, but I was talking about the

298 vs. the 306

On paper like that it only seems like an 8 hp difference but its way more than that.

So the hr motor only comes in the 350z 07 and up? But not in the g coupes? What does hr stand for?

High Rev or High Revving...

Come's in the new G35 and G37 sedans.. G37 coupes, 370Z, and the 07+ 350Z's. This motor never came in the G35 coupe.

The G37 coupe and sedan are the 3.7 HR and same with the 370Z

The 07+ G35 sedans and 07+ 350Z's are the 3.5HR
