widest tire on 19 x 8.5 wheel?

just for looks i dont race so it really doesnt matter but i wanted wider tires. i have 255's on right now but they look to skinny lol.
i just wanted to know if its safe to mount 275's on em.
ive seen 275's on stock 350z wheels and they didnt buldge out but the wheel could have been wider. im not sure but im assuming they are the same.

I have 245/40/19 up front so wat ur saying is that I should go with 275/35/19?

I did alot of research on this aswell, alot of people do not recommend 275s for a 8.5 wheel. I just bought some used rays and the guy did have 275s on it. I drove on this for a couple days and the tire noise was TERRIBLE. The tires were bald bfgs that were on there so i dunno what it was... the sound of alot more tread hitting the ground or some bald nasty tires

hmmm im just wondering becuase ive seen many people run 275's on a 8.5 rim but everyone says they arent good. what i want to know are the resons why i shouldnt run them. they seem to fit. again ive seen them on other cars and now im just wondering if i should go ahead and mount them on mine.
