Splash Guards

I've ordered a 2004 G35C, and asked the dealer to find me one without splash guards. They said it may be difficult as they are all coming in with them. I think they ruin the lines of the car (just my opinion) and they all seem to have gaps between the spash guard and the body of the car. Has anyone tried taking them off? From just looking at them, it seems that there are no holes in the body itself. There is some bracket that it gets attached to, but it is behind the painted part of the car. Anyone??

Re: Splash Guards

tell them you won't buy one with splash guards. Just call around you'll find one.

I haven't tried taking them off but since I installed my own I can tell you that there are two holes drilled for each one. On the front, one on the lip and one underneath. On the back, two on the lip.

and by the way, I've installed two sets with no gaps.

Re: Splash Guards

Hey, I'm with you. When I took delivery of my Coupe in January 03, the splash guards were listed as an option, but not yet available. At the time I wanted them, but took delivery without. Thought I would add them later. But, like you, I think they mess up the lines of the car. I have 9.5" wheels in back, and get no unusual splash on my fenders, no chips. I don't think they are necessary.

Re: Splash Guards

I guess it is just a personal choice. My G35C did not come with splash guards but I may add them later along with side skirts and the OEM front lip.

Good luck!

Re: Splash Guards

Actually the splash guards are an option that by default don't come with the car (unless you get the aero package... I think).

Mine came without but I installed them myself. I personally think they give the car a nice touch - kind'a like a mini body kit...

Re: Splash Guards

Wow. I love the splash guards. And are you sure it didn't come with them from the factory? When I picked up my G it still had a lot of the protective taping on it, and it had splash guards installed.
