Front license holder Stillen vs Strictly Z
Does anybody have the Stillen front license plate bracket on their car? If so, do you have any pics (side profile). Would you recommend?
Here's the link: http://www.stillen.com/Sportscars_de...d=43020&page=1
It is almost identical to the Strictly Z holder, but is more flush to the car and a few more dollars. I prefer the way the Stillen holder looks on the picture. Just wondering if it looks this way in person. I've been avoiding putting my front plate on my car because I want a more flush mount thru the tow hook.
Any thoughts??
Thanks,
Kim

How about DIY? I think the picture links are broken now, but it looks pretty easy.
I have the StriclyZ adapter, and it does stick out a little. But I have seen it on other coupes where it did not stick out as much. I wonder if the distance between the tow hook and the front bumper has slightly changed between model years?

Interesting,
Side Pics of the Stillen one would be nice.
Since I'm waiting for the revision on the newer ones to be completed I will look at shortening the length too so they are more flush.
Also be aware Nissan has changed the Tow hook adaptor size so some of the earlier G's are different than the new.
So Nissan has been changing them along the way.

Re: Front license holder Stillen vs Strictly Z
Godzilla: So is Strictly Z re-designing their license holder and it will possibly be shorter? If so, do you know when that one will be available?? The one thing I didn't like about the Stillen one is that it seemed to pertrude out at the bottom. It didn't lay flat. What cha' think?? I was hoping that would not be the case in person...maybe it was too tight. Hmmm....
So it is also possible that Nissan's design of the 2004 adaptor allows for a more flush look. I want to buy the one that is the most flush.
Also, I had already read the DIY post a while ago and the pics were not working. I definitely won't be sticking doublesided tape on it. (smile)

For what it's worth, I fabricated my own.
Home Depot sells a metric bolt (IIRC 16mm) that screws into the tow hook receptacle. With a couple of nuts, I attached the end of the bolt onto the supplied licence plate holder and had it all tack welded together.
Saved me about $45 and it looks great. If it sticks out too far, you can hack a little off the end of the bolt. It screws in very tight. It's been on the car for three months and works fine.
And yes, I'm a cheap bastard.

Re: Front license holder Stillen vs Strictly Z
I dunno about the rest of you.... But i hated how my retarded dealer drilled holes in my bumper just to mount the damn plate.
so after a recent accident i had to get a new bumper ... and i decided to make my own plate holder.
Well now my plate sits right on the bottom of the bumper.... almost slightly lower then the front portion of the bumper and my rectangular bumper plug for center in in place.
I basically fabricated a few metal brackets to hold my plate from the bottom of the car this way nothing is drilled in my bumper... and its cheaper then the stillen mod.
To thos of you who really so hung up on the Stillen plate holder. You guys can actually make your own for much cheaper. I was gonna do the same and priced it out but decided to make my own.
-- if you want to go stillen route... just find a machine shop artound you... give them the thread size for the bolt... and then make smalle metal bracket and have a muffler shop put a few welds on it for you for free. Paint it black and you done. total cost no more then 30 buck. You can thank me later.

Im a cheap bastard too!!!! Made my own pretty much the same way you did! Funny thing was one of the guys at Infiniti started freaking out because he thought the bumper had been drilled..."I thought this one wasnt supposed to be drilled?" Mines was so close to the bumper you couldnt tell it wasnt drilled!!! In Hawaii supposedly, the dealer cant release a car without some sort of front plate mounted thats why I made one. Good thing....I pulled it off the car before I even left the lot!! Woulda been such a waste of money for me.

Ok guys,
I may just have to spend the money because I am not mechanically inclined at all. (he-he)
So do either of you wonderful "cheap bastards" have pics of your front bumpers?? LOL I would love to see them.

Re: Front license holder Stillen vs Strictly Z
!!!!! thanks guys, you just reminded me...my car is still in the body shop...but this is an opportunity to call my body shop and tell them not to drill(I hope I'm not too late, I'm calling them today). When I bought my car, the dealer had already drilled and installed the front plate holder...so this is an opporunity now that the car is in the shop(the only good thing that came out of being hit by that @#$@#@$@#)

Re: Front license holder Stillen vs Strictly Z
Sorry....dont have it on my car....actually it was only on my car for a couple of hours. Took it off before I even left the dealership...right after I took delivery of the car! I can take a pic of the plate holder off of the car if you want?

Re: Front license holder Stillen vs Strictly Z
I just received my Stillen mount. It is almost flush with the bumper. Closest point is about 1/4 inch standoff, maybe even closer.
