Winter Beater

For those of you who store your G, what do you drive around in the winter?

I'm waiting for winter to go away to sell my cadillac and get my G but next winter I'm buying a 2000ish silverado 4x4. Can't deal with RWD in Canada!

Snow tires make a big difference on the G, but if you can afford to use a winter beater, do it!

Note the poster is from Canada. I'm in South Dakota, live in town, and love driving the G in snow with all season rubber. It's a way different ballgame up north though...

My DD and winter beater is a 1992 Taurus SHO. The G gets driven mostly on weekends only.

my beater is a 94 Grand AM 4CYL. this is the first winter with my g and i didnt realize just how bad it was in the snow with summer tires , i couldn't even get out of my driveway after the first snow storm. next winter i might try some good winter tires, i cant stand not driving the g for this long..

Mine's a 2001 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 that I stuffed some 32" tires onto. It's just a 2.7L 4-Cylinder truck with a 5-speed manual, but it's a blast to drive and gets halfway decent fuel economy for a truck, is dead reliable, and will drive through/over anything nature throws its way. I love it.

One of the less-obvious awesome things about driving a high truck in the winter is that you can see over those snow mounds at intersections. When I used to drive my 240SX as my winter beater, I would pull up to intersections and basically have to play Russian Roulette with my car trying to guess if any other cars were coming because I couldn't see a damn thing beyond the high snow mounds.

Not really a winter here in SoCal, but I did pick up a 92 Volvo in mint shape for $500 just to keep miles off of the G.

Wife has a 2003 Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan, and I have a 2007 Subaru Outback LTD. We drive the Suby pretty much exclusivly in the Winter because it is so good in the snow.

The G is in storage till April
