does my 5AT G need viagra??

I'm a little disappointed after my dyno resulted in a peak hp of just under 215 to the wheels. They used a Clayton Dyno with an eddy current 2000lb. load on the car with no adjustments for barometric, humidity or anything else. They did forewarn me that I may see lower than expected #'s ( because of the type of dyno ) but I had been hoping to see mid 220's as I have the z-tube, pop and grounding kit. They did the pulls in 3rd (MM) because 4th was causing the car to hit the 140mph speed limiter before it hit the rev limiter but my 4th gear #'s were going to net maybe 205rwhp or possibly a little more but nowhere close to the 215 in 3rd !

This was my "base line" for the plenum upgrade at the end of the month.
I realize it's possible to go to another dyno and pull completely different #'s but does my G need a blue genie to get the hp up ?
Is a 23% driveline loss accurate or normal ?

Honestly mate,
I think your G is fine. Dyno figures are so relative, and that's it. Your G will only pull as hard as the surrounding factors and bear in mind, it's as fast as anything out there up too about 45k in price.

haha, trust me the g35 is not as fast as everything out there below 45k. i can probably name at least 5-10 cars faster for under 45k.

dynos are just numbers man. if your car feels good and you have raced and competed with other cars, thats all that matters.

My god LOL...... Bloke, you go from saying the G35 compares to a Civic to now saying its as fast as anything up to 45k. Which is it, do you like the G? Dislike it? Is your GF's performance frustrating you? I'll be honest, it is for me. One day ill have a good fay when its fast as hell but lately its been running pretty slow. It isnt the fastest car and that's why I respect it for what it is. Also dyno it again and try different stuff next time. Ice your engine, etc. Martin

Re: does my 5AT G need viagra??

1) I thought the speed limiter was 156 (or 157?).
2) What was the temperature? According to Q45Tech, above 90 degrees the ECU will make adjustments that will degrade your performance. (I hope I'm paraphrasing him correctly, he speaks in different languages sometimes )
3) What was your tire pressure at?
4) Do you have chrome 20" wheels with Bridgestone S03s on her? (super heavy).
5) Was a fan used? Was the hood open or shut?
6) Something seems amiss if you weren't able to dyno in 4th. This set up has been performed hundreds of times by others.
7) What was your torque?
8) Were A/F readings taken?
9) Does God have feet?

You get the point? Without controls, the dyno is wasted money.

Re: does my 5AT G need viagra??

the car quit pulling at 140 (graph drops off) almost like it hit the rev limiter but it was only registering 6250rpm's so we assumed it hit top speed ?
outside temp - approx. 85 with humidity at "hot as ba**s" even at 8 a.m.
tire pressure - 32lbs
tires - stock 17's
fan was used with the hood down
Yeah the 4th gear thing had me baffled but I'm not about to tell the guy he's an idiot and is doing something wrong.
looks like peak torque is in the 195 range
no A/F reading but will have it done after plenum install

Re: does my 5AT G need viagra??

Something is amiss with the dyno or the operator. I wouldn't worry about it, but I would find a new dyno. Even at 85 degrees with a million humdity I would expect at least 220 with an AT coupe. Most stock 6MTs are getting in the 230 neighborhood and an AT should be a tad less.

The whole deal with the 4th gear debacle makes me think something is wrong with the operator or equipment. Speed limiter is 156 (157? I can't remember exactly).

My calculations on my AT show just over an 18% drive line loss with 18" wheel pkg and 35 psi tire pressure.
