Hit a Possum - gota question

sooo i just hit a possum a few hours ago goin about 95. its dark so i couldint rele get a good pic..

lucky for me there is no damage to my bumper, but the only problem is that my plastic bumper guard got ripped off the bumper and started dragging. I stoped by a gas station and taped it up for the way home.. Just got a question..
Should I try screwing it back on in the morning or should i just take it off completely? am i putting anything at risk if i take it off and leave it off?

thanks

If it's the 2-3 inch plastic that hangs down, I don't think it would hurt anything if it were removed. However, I would try to re-attacth it.
