Worth paying more for an HR?
Hey all,
I'm planning to get a G in the coming months after I start my new job. After looking at the differences between the years I'm pretty sure I want at least an 05 model. I was reading that the HR motor started in 07, those seem to run about three thousand more than an 05-06 model.
Is it worth paying a bit more for the HR? I read the redline was raised, it has a bit more horsepower too right?
Plans for the car are just a daily driver, maybe do intake/exhaust...
Also, it seems the mileage/price for these are all over the place. On autotrader near me there is an 07 with 7k miles for $24000. Then there is an 06 with 37000 miles for the same price. Whats the going rate for a low mile 07?

Here is what I got off wikipedia:
"Infiniti redesigned and significantly updated and upgraded interior, exterior, chassis and drivetrain of both the G sedan and coupe for the 2007 and 2008 model years, respectively. The initial fourth generation G sedan launched in September 2006 for the 2007 model year with a significantly upgraded version of the venerable 3.5L VQ engine, the VQ35HR and a 5-speed automatic as standard transmission. The second gen G coupe launched in 2007 for the 2008 model year with the larger and again much improved 3.7L VQ37VHR with 5-speed automatic and in late 2008 for the 2009 model year the G sedan followed suit now also using the VQ37VHR. For 2009 - present both the coupe and sedan also come with an all-new 7-speed automatic as the standard transmission."
So 2007-2008 G35s have the HR, and 2009 is when it switched to G37?

All 2nd Gen sedans have the HR motor so there are 2007 g35s with the HR motor.
i think the 2nd gen Sedan is worth the extra money.
1. you have more warranty left
2. Interior is much much nicer
3. Performance is much better
4. Styling is also nicer
(2-4 are opinions but i think people would agree for the most part)

Ah alright, thanks for the info on that. I'll probably go test drive one of these in 2-3 months after I've been at the new job for a bit.
I don't think I want a sedan, just not a fan of the look of them. I'll check out the 08 coupe, but I'm not sure if I can afford those.

todays job market make sure your job is secure before laying down $20K+.
When you feel secure go with the G37 Coupe, get a Carfax so you know the
history of the car you're buying....Good Luck!!
