Re: Absolutely Ridiculous: More Window Woes!

IllusiveG35C,

I have verified that this is happening on both 03's (like mine) and 04's. I see no indication that this has been changed for 05's either.

I really hope Infiniti can step up to the plate and do a re-haul on our doors/windows. When I had my first window trouble, I about didn't make it home in time to park my car in the garage....seconds later it was raining so hard that my car's interior would had been drenched! That is a situation that nobody should be put in. Sorry to go on and on about this....but it really irritates me as our cars are nice and cost (in my opinion) a lot of money.

These problems sound ridiculous.... I sure hope Infiniti solves them in the '05 model which I plan to purchase. My '91 300ZX is 14 years old and the windows still work great.

Re: Absolutely Ridiculous: More Window Woes!

I've also had my driver's side window regulator replaced. When I first got the car, the driver's side window and passenger side window would both go down the same amount (automatically) when opening the door (then closing automatically when closing the door). As time went on, the driver's side door started going down less and less. When the driver's side door finally went caput (no operation at all) and they replaced the regulator, the first few weeks were great. Like the car windows were new again (both sides going equally down about a 1/4-1/2 of an inch. Now a few months later it's happening again (driver's side door not going down as far). I'm just counting the days until my driver's side window regulator needs replacing (again).

Re: Absolutely Ridiculous: More Window Woes!

I have recently had a similar issue with my passanger side window. When I use the Auto Up on that side it goes all the way to the top and then down half way (as a few others here have mentioned) However it doesnt do it all of the time. After a lot of playing with it when it works and when it doesnt I have come to realize temperature has a lot to do with my problem. If it is cool and dry out no problem it will work fine everytime. once it gets warm outside it will happen, especially if it has been sitting in the sun. I am guessing the auto up down settings need to be adjusted. I dont think anything needs to be replaced. If you have read the TSB for the grease streaks they mention marknig the height of the glass before removing any pieces. If you dont you could install the glass to the wrong height and then the auto up down would not work.

When my car sits in the heat/sun I am guessing the rubber seal at the top of the window expands just enough so that when the auto up gets to the top it thinks something is in the way and rolls half way down (safety feature).

If you take your car to the dealer and they dont test for the problem right away it might cool sitting in the shop/garage and work fine when they go to check it.

If you set the windows auto up/auto down limits when the problem is occuring (in the heat/sun) then you should be fine.

just my 0.02 from dealing with this annoyance.

Has anyone else experienced this happening in the same manner I described?

How long did it take for you guys before this problem surfaced? I've had my '04 coupe for 8 months and 12,000+ miles and haven't had an issue with the windows. I'm wondering when problems might occur?

Hmm...just checked both of my windows and the driver side moves down a lot less than the passenger side. I guess the driver side window regulator will eventually have to get replaced. I had a feeling when I bought the car that the "auto-sealing" feature would become a problem down the road. I just hope the warrenty takes care of it with no hassles.

Re: Absolutely Ridiculous: More Window Woes!

Mine came up around 10months 20,000 miles. Worked beautiful before that. I dont think it is as big of a hassle as a lot of others apparently do. I guess a lot of it has to do with what kind of relationship one has with the dealer service department. The folks I deal with are great at Inskip Infiniti in RI and have always looked into helping me out with any problems I've had, no matter how big or small.

Re: Absolutely Ridiculous: More Window Woes!

i think we should forward this topic to infiniti. i mean they take care of our brakes. so why not this? i mean my service department is great. they fix what needs to be repaired and replace what needs to replaced. infiniti just needs to come up with a better system. at this time i don't mind sending the car in for window repairs, but i bought my car and after another 25k miles my car is out of warranty which means it will become an expensive problem!

Had the same problem with the window going back down on Auto Up...What the dealer told me was that the "Safety Switch" on auto up needs to be adjusted. According to the dealer, they reprogramed the safety switch to not be as sensitive. Problem solved (for now)...

Re: Absolutely Ridiculous: More Window Woes!

I have the exact same problems.....
1. Driver Side.... up/down up/down up/down...but has never STUCK DOWN or UP
2. Passenger Side....up/down up/down up/down...but did STICK DOWN...I was able to get it back up using the KEY in door windows up feature....Dealer was able to reproduce....(on first try while I was still there....they replaced driver side master switch....Left dealer....had no reason to roll window down for 2 days....first time I rolled down passenger window...STUCK DOWN.....had to press UP on switch 4 TIMES to get it up...called dealer and told them NO SUCH LUCK on that fix...
3. They also said they had order DRIVER SIDE regulator and motor because it makes noise....It is strange that it has never stuck.....
4. It is a pain going back and forth to the dealer...I live 50 miles from my dealer....At least all of their loaners are now G35 4-doors......
Everone is right....I have NEVER owned any car with power windows that has this kind of trouble....Never had problems on my BMW that had UP/DOWN feature when you open the door....

P.S. If your dealer service SUCKS....Go to another one.....Fortunately service @ Infiniti of Nashville has been great to me...

Re: Absolutely Ridiculous: More Window Woes!

Scobic,

I respect your post, but I have to disagree with you about the statement regarding this issue not being "as big of hassle " as others do. I agree that dealers are fixing the problems as they occur (albeit with some resistance and out of stock parts), but going back and forth multiple times should not be necessary.

If my car got flooded by a ton of rain, I would not be so care-free, regardless of knowing Infiniti will fix it. To me, that is something that is still unacceptable as quick fixes do not make the problem permantly go away. As a result I am encouraging people to help me convince Infiniti that they need to address these window issues as a top priority. Again, I appreciate your post and hopefully you won't have to deal with the issues I have ran into.

Re: Absolutely Ridiculous: More Window Woes!

Zeromus,

I understand where you are coming from and just wanted to clarify my post a little. What I meant by "as big of a hassle" as others do was more towards the point of being able to properly explain the problem to a dealer. Many people have posted that they take their car to the dealer, the dealer cannot replicate the problem and therfore nothing is done about the issue. I have read many posts were people continually take their car back to the dealer til the dealer can reproduce the problem. I agree with you that it shouldnt be a problem on so many cars in the first place, but the "hassle" of trying to get it fixed with your dealer would be a lot less of a bother than it already is, if you can properly explain the conditions and type of problem you are/were having. It appears that a lot more people noticed the problem with the window, in high temperatures, as I mentioned in my earlier post. If this is the case people should make sure the dealer and infiniti knows this is when the problem occurs so it can be tested in those conditions. Having the car sit in the cool shade to later be checked for the window issue is not the way to go about proving the issue to the dealer. It will just earn you another trip back later most likely.

I agree with you 100% though that it would be nice to have this not even be an issue any longer and that it should be corrected across the platform.

Has anyone reported it being such a problem that the windows will go down on their own when your not even near the car? I dont see how rain could flood your car otherwise. The malfunction in the auto up feature is more of a nuissance in not being able to put the window up with the push of one button. But like you said maybe you've run into more issue with it than I have.

I wish you the best in trying to get your problem fixed. Please keep us up to date on how it goes with getting people together to convince infiniti for more immediate attention to this issue.

Maybe you/someone should start a post of a running list of forum members that are having the problem. Then we can see how many people are actually being affected.

Best regards...

Re: Absolutely Ridiculous: More Window Woes!

yes, the windows will creep down sometimes. I check mine when its going to rain, as I've read of several occurances. I initially wrote it off to them accidently pressing the keyfob. However, I came out to find my drive window down a few inches last month. The window I'm having issues with. The second keyfob is locked way.. and I didnt put mine in my pocket, I came in and set them down, I know they werent touched.

Mine has just started doing this in the last few days. I just broke 9,000 miles. Although mine seems to have a slightly different twist. My driver side window will go down about 1/3 of the way when I get in the car and close the door. It does this before I even turn the ignition on. Then I can't get the window to stay up. So far, the only way I can get it to stay is if I hold the power button up for several seconds after the window has gone all the way up. However, as soon as I put the window back down, the problem starts all over. I can't get the window to do this all the time so I foresee reproduction at the dealership becoming a nightmare. Anyone else have their window go down without the car even being on?
