Wow thread back from the dead

I had both my motors replaced. Mine did something similar...it is doing it after the car is off because of the anti pinch. The motor is trying to do the anti pinch and ends up going down again.

Just take it to your dealership...they'll fix it. 2 years of this problem I'm sure they don't even question it any more.

I have tried this while staying stationary and while driving and there is no difference.

I will be going back to my dealer once again this weekend to see what the cause is. Its unfortunate that I have to put 90+ miles to have a dang window checked. I'll keep you all updated and please feel free to post more comments about this issue. Thanks for your time.
adi, just a quick piece of advice. Next time you bring the car in, ask for the shop foreman, tell him you want him to take a test drive. That way you can point out the issues and he will verify them (aka no "oh I couldn't reproduce it)

*edit* oops, didn't read the date, lol

After a lot of playing with it when it works and when it doesnt I have come to realize temperature has a lot to do with my problem. If it is cool and dry out no problem it will work fine everytime. once it gets warm outside it will happen, especially if it has been sitting in the sun. I am guessing the auto up down settings need to be adjusted. I dont think anything needs to be replaced. If you have read the TSB for the grease streaks they mention marknig the height of the glass before removing any pieces. If you dont you could install the glass to the wrong height and then the auto up down would not work.

When my car sits in the heat/sun I am guessing the rubber seal at the top of the window expands just enough so that when the auto up gets to the top it thinks something is in the way and rolls half way down (safety feature).

If you take your car to the dealer and they dont test for the problem right away it might cool sitting in the shop/garage and work fine when they go to check it.

If you set the windows auto up/auto down limits when the problem is occuring (in the heat/sun) then you should be fine.

just my 0.02 from dealing with this annoyance.

Has anyone else experienced this happening in the same manner I described?
I have made the same observation with my 05. Only 4000 miles and my drivers window behaves exactly as you have described. I just wonder why only the auto up/down has this problem? The window goes to the same closed position irregardless of which method is used to close it.

"""Only thing this time is that my window isn't stuck down, it just acts weird with Auto Down and Auto Up. When I hit auto down, it goes down like it is supposed to. However, when I hit Auto Up, it goes up fast and then lowers half-way by itself!!!

Hey I have an 05 with 10K miles. I have this same problem. What I did short term was just hold the window up button and hit window lock. That was the only way for me to shut my window and keep it closed. Also when rolling it up, I don't use auto up, I just use manual and hold it back till it rolls to the top. If you can't reproduce it at the dealer, they won't do anything about it.

Unbelievable!! I've had the same exact issues as everyone above described!!
At first it would go down 1/3 of the way and i'd have to "lock" the window button in order for it to stay up.

2 months ago:
My passenger window was stuck in the down position it rained all night, thankfully i went to my parent's home that night and used their garage (my apartment complex doesnt have garages)
Dealer replaced the motor the next day (they did not say anything about a regulator).

Now:
The same thing happens but to my driver's side window. The motor makes funny noises. I just dont use the window anymore because i dont want it to be stuck Down. I will be taking it to the dealership on 7/21/05 to get it checked out and hopefully motor replaced.

This happened once and all the dealer did was push the reset button and it worked fine again.

I think if other cars flicked the power windows up and down as often as ours does each time the door opens and closes, they'd have probs too. This can only lead to problems, silly design IMO. There have been plenty of other cars with rimless glass on the doors and don't roll up and down all the friggin time.

I had my drivers window motor replaced a while back, and now I dis-engage the auto/down mode by just lightly tapping the window switch, it lowers the window about a 32" of an inch, and I never have to worry about it messing up or freezing in the winter months......Also, I have never had a single issue with water/snow/ice coming in the window. It seals just as well as in the fully closed mode.

I don't seem to have such a big problem with my driver side window.
Whenever I raise my driver side window it would make a weird clicking sound and seem to go a bit slower then it should. No problems closing the window or it mysteriously going down 1/2 way.
I don't know if I should rush to the dealership or just wait about 2 months till I get my oil changed to tell them about. Did you guys experience this same problem before your windows went crazy?

I thought I was the only one with this issue, and my remote no longer locks the driver side door. Here is the big question, I am the second owner of my car, does the warrenty transfer????

When my window motor failed, the first warning was the window going up all the way, and then returning down half the way. I was able to raise the window, but not to the full/auto closed position.

By lowering the window just that tiny bit, it disengages the auto up feature, and save me alot of time and patience for the window to lower before opening my door. (my new motor is slow as hell), and yes, My window will just slightly hit the moulding above the door.

The warranty should transfer to you as well. As long as it is in the mileage/time period.......

same problem

I have a 04 coupe and ran into the same problem. Sometimes mine would go down by itself even with the engine off and key out of ignition. I took it back to Grubbs Infiniti in Euless, TX and they fixed it right on the spot. They told me they had to do something with the timer on the window or something like that.

Well I posted in this thread when I bought my car last year. Today my window is acting funny. It wont go down sometimes, sometimes it wont go up. It doesnt go up when I close the door. So finally I gave the window a push to make it go down, my mistake it was stuck down. I called my service guy and he told me to hit the area above the speaker and bring up the window at the same time. It worked! So he told me to leave it until Monday and bring it in. I think I spent a little to much money on a car for some ghetto window thing like this to happen. I will post after I go to the dealer.
