I've been told by sales rep and others to ensure my 1st oil change (on a new car) is done within 3 months or 6,000 kms, whichever comes 1st. If I wait for 6K, it will probably be almost the 5th month, should I change the oil in the 3rd month 1st? Is the really necessary?

I personally wouldn't wait that long especially for the first change.
Go in at 3 months and BTW, The time factor is as important as the distance factor.

I'm getting mine done today at 2k miles and 2mos. I would have got in at about 1.5k miles if I could have fit it in.

My dealer told me to bring it in at 1500 km. I was thinking I would get it changed at 500 km and then again at 1500 km. I heard some cars have additives in the oil when it is new and it is best to change it at the recomended interval.

Does anyone have any information on this?
