05 G35 bought used was in accident

hey whats up guys, before someone says it yes i'm an idiot but the car made me fall in love I had to buy it.

so i bought a car that i knew was in an accident, the carfax report says when the car had 1200 miles it was in a rear collision it doesn't specifically say what happened or what was replaced but it said to check the rear. i checked everything and drove it before i bought it and everything is fine. so i had the car for about 5 months now and i had no problems with anything at all. but i recently realized that the VIN# and tire info thats usually on the driver door panel is not there. so does that mean that it had body work done on the driver side or does the g35 not have a VIN sticker on the driver door panel ?

another thing sometimes i hear like a weird chain noise but im not sure where its coming from sometimes it sounds like its from the rear (lol) but its been to cold to get under the car and look, but i know people always say the Gs make rattling noise and engine noise sometimes so would that be normal or should i bring it into the dealer, im still under warranty 40,000 miles.

Old Valley saying, "Love is blind." just don't let her move in with you....LOL

Hmm, I honestly don't understand why anyone would buy a car that obviously
took a major hit. Yes, the tire information and vin number stickers belong
inside the drivers door jam which leads me to believe that area was replaced.
Hey, as long as it drives like it's supposed to and you don't have any major
issues like excessive tire wear....enjoy. GOOD LUCK!

That chain sound is common on g35 coupes. Do a search for rear axle TSB. I have the same sound coming from my 2005 g35 coupe and already made an appointment with the dealership to get it fixed on Friday.

A major hit in the back isn't so bad as one to the front....
Considering there are not engine components etc..
But I think you should have did your homework just a bit better before purchase..

My first Maxima had been hit semi-hard at the back (including unibody damage). Had my mechanic check out the repair, he reported it looked good, and I drove it 100k more miles with zero problems. YMMV

I hope i can get that life out of it, I honestly just want to keep the car as a collectors item. The car drives amazing and i figured since the accident happened when it had 1000K. I would have noticed a problem by now i have 40K miles.

i agree with buying a car from just anyone that had a major hit, because you never know if they did a crap job to fix it or actually did that s#it right.

FWIW, based on my experience it doesn't take much of a hit to result in major damage to the back of the G. A few years ago I was rear-ended at a stop sign. We were both stopped, he thought I was moving and he accelerated. He couln't have been going much faster than 5 mph when he hit me. No visible damage to his car (a PT Cruiser). The tab for mine was more than $3k. Took it to a reputable shop, and have had no problems with it since. Hopefully you will have the same experience.
