A G dies a horrible death

I was driving my moms 325i last night and I see these two cars lined up to race. One is a G Coupe 5AT the other is a SLK 320. I didnt see the first race but I turned around hoping they would race again. When I went back to the street they came from the other side and lined up again. The G didnt even bother to launch he just let off the brake casually and stepped on the gas. (retard thing to do in a race) while the SLK is hauling *** down the road. They went up to 80 and the SLK won by 1 or 2 car lengths. That might not seem like a whole lot but it is when you race a SLK that weighs like 5000 lbs or something like that. The G could not even catch this guy. I mean they stayed that way the whole race. I wish I had my G and would have taught the guy a lesson. That idiot gave us G drivers a bad name. I am going to find that guy and give him a beating. I couldnt believe it. I am sorry for wring and wasting forum space on this but I am still stunned and mad for some reason. Ok I will stop rambling now.

Re: A G dies a horrible death

that sucks. But I would have done the same thing also cause I have know idea how to launch a G35 auto. thats how I lost by a couple car lengths to my friend in a wrx . he has Manual and he launches a 4500 rpm and I just stop on the gas and try to keep up even brake tourqing doesn't help.

You push the break all the way down. Turn off your stereo and airconditioning. VDC on or off. Rev to 1500 becuase if you rev higher the engine with cut off power.

Re: A G dies a horrible death

I could have sworn the SLK weighed around 3-3100 lbs...which would give the SLK like a 350 lb advantage...

Re: A G dies a horrible death

If the G casually let off the break and stepped on the gas I am sure the guy was not even intending to race. Think about it...Why would you casually step on the gas if you are wanting to race. And by the way a cars reputation is not broken from people losing pointless street races against SLKs

Dude, by the title of your post I thought that someone had totaled their G in a masive car crash or something. I was like o my god I feel really fricking bad for the owner, but then he lost to a slk 320 so I feel bad for him anyways.

Re: A G dies a horrible death

i dont know how much hp the 03/04 SLK320's have, but if a 2001 SLK320 could only do 0-60 in 7.5 and 1/4 mi in 15.5, there would be no way a G35 would lose a race. maybe you were just seeing things.

Re: A G dies a horrible death

Rob,

The 04 SLK 320 is S/C with 350 hp and weighs like 3200lbs. Now, my info comes from a fellow colleagues who owns a 99 SLK 230 S/C with 190 hp, so don't take my info at face value.

Re: A G dies a horrible death

I stand corrected...that is the AMG version and it does have 350 hp and looks the same. Could have been debadged. All I know is, I raced a SLK 230 S/C at LACR last week and smoked it by at least 6 car lengths. Had to be the AMG model this guy was running.

Re: A G dies a horrible death

Maybe the G wasn't racing the slk at all and that's why he lost.

Don't feel bad, I thought the same thing. Once I read the subject line, I thought to myself, this is great. All those folks from the dead dog thread will be back at it again in this thread!!!

Just to add to XIMER'S reply, here's more info than you'll ever need to know on the SLK's;
