It was only a matter of time.

I have had my coupe for about 4 days now, have been enjoying it from the minute i drove it from the dealer..
last night went out for dinner, i was hesitant to give the car to the valet. (call it new car jitters) but i did thinking to myself what can go wrong.. after dinner i my car back everything looked great.this morning as im walking to my driveway i spot something on the rim.. my front passenger rim is chipped and scratched to no F#$%^ end. deffinetly the vallet guy must of hit a curb , from the looks of it he must of hit the curb 5 times.
does anyone know how much the price of the rim would be,
its the 18 wheel and tire package.
thanks

it's gonna take me a lot longer to get over this new car syndrome now that you've told me that... that valet key is gonna remain in the plastic tube.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. The bad news is that the 18 inch wheels are not cheap. About $800.00 CAD each! Can probably be fixed for alot less. Good luck.

Try to find out which tire/wheel shop sells high performance wheels. Otherwise they may not have the right equipment to take the tire off of the wheel and will scratch up the wheel even more.

Re: It was only a matter of time.

Unfortunately I don't think they will be able to fix it that easily. When I bought mine I found a nick in the drivers side front wheel about the size of a dime. When I took it back in to the dealership they called their body repair specialist. He told me that the rim is powder coated with a special paint and then clear coated. He told me the only way to fix the wheel was to strip it completely and redo the whole process. Since I believe the time and money would have been more than a new wheel the dealership just ordered my a new one. I asled if there was any way to just fix the spot but he said nothing they could do would visually fix it for a long amount of time. Real sorry man. I would go to the dealership first and see what they can do for you. Good luck.

Re: It was only a matter of time.

Coming from my experience as a valet in my college days, it's not they are jealous, just plain careless. We never damaged any of our cars but as far as "test drives" once the owner was eating....oh you can imagine. Bottom line, NEVER VALET PARK!!!!!!

Re: It was only a matter of time.

You might be in a pinch trying to get it fixed. On an earlier thread someone mentioned that the exact paint color used was illegal in the US. So, you have a choice of having it redone by sending the wheel back to Japan, or you have to have all 4 wheels repainted by a local shop so they match each other.

G35 Coupe/Silver/Graphite/6MT/Prem.Pkg./BSM - now (maybe) May delivery.

Re: It was only a matter of time.

thanks for the replies guys...
trust me i went back to the restaurant, but of course the answer was "they are not responsible since i didnt notice anyhing that night"..as far as the valet guy goes when he saw me pull up he dissapeared (wonder why).
i havent checked with my dealer yet, but i talked to a few people that said the rim was fixable, but they would have to polish all 4 rims to have them match..
ill keep you all posted on how it goes...

Re: It was only a matter of time.

The particular paint used has some type of toxic outgassing so it is not allowed in the U.S. I tried to find the exact thread using the "search" function, but had no luck. Maybe I read it on www.freshalloy.com.
