Grinding noise after startup.

I have a 06 AT Coupe. Anyone else notice that after your first startup for the day, start rollin, and the first initial gear shift there is a slight grinding noise, almost as if the tire is rubbing? I'm certain its not a rubbing issue.

Never had that noise, although there is a normal spring type noise that occurs in the vicinity of 10 - 15 mph at first start up that is the VDC Calibration.

So if I were to turn off the VDC on startup this shouldn't occur? Gonna try this out tonight or tomorrow, I'll post back when I do

i believe it's the ABS doing a self check, normally occurs right before shift to second gear

and i thought it was something to do with vdc because it sounds very similar when vdc kicks in.

It's normal. It's the ABS self-check, nothing to worry about. I did not try to run the car with VDC off so i dont know does the car make the noise or not. I gotta try that tomorrow.

well when the VDC kicks in say when you take a sharp turn or lose traction wihtout using throttle, what do you think it does, it uses the brakes to try to regain traction which is done by using a motor to push brake fluid because your foot's not on the pedal! VDC is awesome and never turn it off unless you know what you're doing or you'r ein an empty parking lot. Even when you turn it off, all it does is not cut the throttle, it still tries to use the brakes so its not totally off but off enough to end up in a ditch! otherwise, pull the fuse!
