Re: Buying the mods of the 2005 that give it the 2
The 90-95 Q had 248/248 duration vs 240/238 duration of current G35. In 1996 this was reduced to 238/238 to deal with OBD2. They could make it work with 242/242...244.
The new bucket lifts with precision shims can handle more due to greater accuracy [when new even to 70k] same with a faster ramp up to open.......get a little noiser but its a coupe/sport.
Get about 2-2.5% more air in ~~ 5 HP, get 1-2% better blow down another 2 HP and 8 HP in software tweeks.
After all there is 5% [15-20 HP in safety reserve alone in software]...........a nice sticker: Warning bad gasoline will explode your engine, if WOT accelerated in Summer Heat!
OWNER IS RESPONSIBLE.
Wish they would just bump it up to 4.0 liters ~~ an easy 300 HP.......but then owners would modify for 320.

Re: Buying the mods of the 2005 that give it the 2
Q45 tech, are these statements accurate?
"I know that at wot (wide open throttle) the ecu does not actually open the accelerator fully (as little as 75%). The updated ecu fixes that. IT takes off the top speed (if u need more than 156mph something is wrong with u anyways). It redlines at 7100 rpms (one of my main reasons for getting it) and it will also control the a/f mixture better (u can cunstomize this based on your mods). In terms of actual horses, im not sure, but would be willing to guess that its none. In terms of track times, i would say that his is pretty helpful (7100 rpm limit and wot fix AND a/f mixture). If doing a lot of air flow mods.... this is just a good idea."

well my inside sources tell me there will be a sport package offered for both 6MT and 5AT. Both getting the power increase to around 295hp. And the changes to the engine include, changes to the intake(unclear exactly what yet, maybe intake tube or plenum or maybe both), variable timing on both intake and exhaust, stronger rod bolts(how about rods), move the rev limiter up to 6900 or 7100 and changes to the ecu.
also the 350Z will be seeing a power increase to 300+hp.
take it for what it's worth. I just wanted to share what I found out. I'm sure nothing's set in stone.
as for buying the parts, maybe the changes to the intake. But the rest either wouldn't be possible or worth the cost of installing them.
as for voiding the warranty, if you just did the intake changes you should be fine. Some dealerships are selling new Gs with z-tubes, popchargers, crawford plenums and cat-back exhausts. And there warranty is still good.
