Yea, I know, no big surprise or anything, but I just thought I'd share the story. I was coming home last night, and I pulled up at a light next to a black Turbo Carrera. The light turned green, and I was minding my own business, accelerating/shifting as usual. While I'm in 3rd gear, doing a little shy of 3000, he pulls up right next to me, and revs forward, then slows down; then does it again. I was like 'ok, what the hell, at least I'll get to see firsthand how fast one of these cars really is'. Well, let me tell you - they are fast. I floored it from 3rd doing about 3000 (I should've downshifted to 2nd, but didn't bother since I knew it was gonna be over pretty quick), and he just walked off and left me. That was my first race (if you can even call it that) since I got my car in May 2003.

This was the first time I've ever actually seen a Turbo Carrera in action, and damn are they fast. I don't think you can really appreciate the acceleration of a car like that until you see it in person. And please, none of the 'how can you even compare a G to a $120k sports car?' I'm not trying to compare them, or say that the G is as cool as the Porsche, etc. Just thought I'd share a story.

Same exact thing happened to me, except I wanted to see what it could do badly. It was one of the hottest turbo's ive seen, and started jumping to see him take off like a jet fighter lol... Those are some fun cars to watch. Martin

Wait till you see one launch...I had the pleasure of seeing one across an intersection. When his light went green, he was already through the intersection before any of the other cars began to move. This was a 6 lane intersection too.. The car looked like it was about to go arial. AWD owns..

 

Pick your fights wisely...but if the fights pick you then race your heart out.

If you were destined to lose, then at least you can say that you could hold groceries and a few warm bodies in your car... with style.

Keep your head up, not everyone can beat a G, but those who do wish they had one too.

There is (honestly speaking) no other car that is as well rounded as ours...i can't think of any other car out there that can offer the same performance, aesthetics/desgin, purpose, and play at a price you can afford...?...!!! am i right?!

my friend with a bike has been wanting a porsche ever since he raced it...with his bike. he said the carrera kept up with him for so long, and saw what it could really do against a freakin bike.

 

Start picking on Honda, old BMW's. You might beat those cars. The G35 will not keep up with real sports cars.

Some kid in a Jetta told me what I read in this forum all the time. "My car is just a little slower than yours and I paid so much less for mine"

That's how he justified his purchase.

A porsche turbo is a beast. My cousin has one and he drove me around in it and damn...that car is fast as hell. Just for fun, off a launch, my brother raced him in his CLS 6 speed and it didnt even look like my brothers car was moving. LOL. Id assume it would be similar if i raced him in my G. The turbo is not a car to mess with unless you want to get left in the dust

Just so you know, Jettas are a lot slower than a G35.
