CLUTCH covered by warrantee?

Hey guyz... a question for those with 6MT.

I just got the car last week. It's my first MT car.
Thus i've stalled it quite a few, entered a few gears to fast/late.

*IF* the clutch were to ever give out on me, would it be covered by INFINITI? or am i $hit out of luck and have to pay for repairs? (Hope this never happens but you never know)

Anyone know anything about this?

yea the clutch is covered by warranty. actualyl ive just had a problem resolved with my clutch after months of problems. My clutch was squeaking bad and they could never fix it. They finally got some lube from Infiniti and it worked like a charm. If it didnt work they were going to replace my transmission, all under warranty of course.

Clutch is a wear item like tires.
Not sure Infiniti ever expected to pay for drivers education for owners but you never know.........it might be covered in the 12,000 mile 12 month adjustment period. Longer if you are a nice guy. Always get your oil changes at dealers so they have computer records that you are diligent in maintenance.....just in case.

What ever you do don't discuss your lack of prowness with a MT to anyone at dealership.

the clutch is covered for 12mo./12,000 miles.... after that your pretty much on your own, expect about a $1000 replacement cost for new clutch parts/labor

Re: CLUTCH covered by warrantee?

well now im worried. In 1 month i will be at a year with my coupe, and I had just the clutch relubed because it wouldnt stop squeaking no matter how much they tried to fix it.
If that didnt work they were going to replace my transmission.

The clutch works fine now but im worried the problem will come back after the 12 months and I will be stuck with a huge bill to replace it. Any ideas on waht i should do now? SHould i bring it up to them and get them to sign something to replace it if the problem comes back?

Re: CLUTCH covered by warrantee?

i will have my oem clutch (and flywheel) off of my car in the next week or two....

it has 2200 miles on it now, and has NEVER been drag-raced.....

i will not be needing it, and am thinking it might be of interest elsewhere...

Re: CLUTCH covered by warrantee?

nissan clutches are beasty tho.... dont worry bout it in the 12 month period unless u are REALLLLLY abusing it. If u drive around launching ur car, riding ur clutch, and chirping gears.... its gonna be expected to wear out..... I would be suprised if my clutch doesnt last past the lifetime of the car in my hands

2004 Black on Black g coupe 6spd.... aluminum pedals, clear corners, z tube, and pop charger. soon to have 19" volk gt-c's and PIAA xtreme whites in the clearance and corners

Are we sure about the 12,000 miles? My clutch is out after only 3,000 miles. I do get on it sometimes though. Use the torque to spin like my old Mustang 5.0

why would you replace the trans if the clutch went out?

If the stock clutch goes it's a good excuse to go for aftermarket.

Thanks for the quick reply guys. I didn't mean replace the tranny, I'm sure that would be covered barring any stupidity on my part. I am worried about the clutch, which is usually not a covered part.

In fact, now I'm not so sure it's the clutch. When I initially shift (up or down) it feels like the clutch is slipping and the car's RPM's uncharistically raise up and down. Also, if I try to get on it while in a gear (without shifting) the RMP's will raise wildly, but I won't get the proper excelleration.

P.S. I'd love to upgrade to aftermarket, but I have to sit for the Florida Bar in a couple months and I'd prefer to save that $2,000 for when I'm unemployed.

hah.. yah.. from your desciption it does sound like you have a bad clutch.. I have not even picked up my G yet but I've had clutches replaced on cars before.. if ACT makes one for the G I bet it would be a fair price and if you need any help I've talked to the president of ACT (advanced clutch technology) Dick Starksen and could ask him about it, he use to be very supportive on an Evo forum I use to be part of.

They are excellent clutches for any car at a fair price. They use Exedy parts for the clutch as well. The installation is what might kill you.. it's about $600 dollars I think they charge 10 hours of labor, but you could get a good deal.

good luck
