Tint limits

Does anyone know what the tint level is supposed to be in NJ? Are you allowed to tint front windows on the coupe? When I got my maxima windows tinted, they told me that I couldn't tint the front windows - it was against the law. So, I am wandering what the law is for coupes. Any info if greatly appreciated.

Yes, it's illegal in the front side windows in nj unless you have a medical reason for it. Hint hint, get friendly with your doctors. I think all sides are illegal in NY.

Re: Tint limits

Try this thread: Window Tint laws

Nothing allowed on the front side windows. Anything goes on the back sides and rear. Illegal tint is grounds for failing a state inspection.

So, for a coupe, that means you can tint the rear and the little triangles, but not the big side windows. Bummer.

Re: Tint limits

My car is registered in Delaware...they don't really have any tinting laws.
so you guys think i can go to car shop in Jersey and get my front windows tinted?? Or maybe go to Phili
i don't see why they won't tint my front windows if its registered in Delware

Re: Tint limits

Great link - thanks!
It sucks, because tint would look great on my DG/G. Maybe I'll find a flexible inspection place.

Re: Tint limits

It depends on the state laws. Some states let you go if you're registered out-of-state. Some states require any car travelling within them to comply. I think that link I gave above has notes on the states that require out-of-state cars to comply with local tinting laws.

Re: Tint limits

You shouldn't need to get your car inspected until '07, so that is not a problem. I live in NE NJ and have 35% all the way around on mine. Just stay away from really dark or limo tint and you will be fine.
