Ok..so I was on my way home from safeway, its like 2am or sumthin and when i stopped at the red light, there was a 330ci right next to me. I looked at the car and the driver starred at me, I saw there were 3 people loaded in it, I was like okay....So anyway, the guy behind the driver started talking to him while pointing at my G, I didn't think he wanted to race me cuz I was thinking like its a 330ci with 3 people loaded in it, its a different story if its an m5 or m3...but 330??!
I don't think that guy has ever read car mags....so he rolled down his window...and gave me a thumbs down...I was like WTF??!! He floored his car and went to the highway,i followed him. I didn't even have to floor the G to catch up with him.
So all the way in the highway, I was playin him and he kept floorin his car....so after 5 minutes or so I downshifted and TOTALLY smoked that guy...haha...I couldn't stop smiling..
I should've rolled down my window before I floored the G and gave him a thumbs down...LOL
Well...its not a big kill...just thought i'd share

 

He was probably jealous because his friends liked your ride better than his since they were pointing at yours!!!

a stock 330 was my first kill in my g. I ran him from about a 20mph roll up to 90 mph and put about 5 lengths on the guy... The next red light we got to he launched and i just took off fast (without spinning the tires) and caught up. They arent that fast of cars.... we both ended up going close to each otehr (he went to a restraunt and i went to the store next to it) and he got out laughing and told me "nice driveing". I said thanks and he was really cool about it. not a fast car tho

ya i love how the guys in LA think if they exhuasta nd chip their 330 they can play with the G's this guy kept egging me to race him a while back he had a 4door 330 with a few bolt ons i knew he didnt stand a chance then he started talking ISH so I told him put your money where your mouth is and that got him to shut up real quick when I gave him a 2 car handicap and i cherp on his drivers window into 3rd. DAMN KIDS

Though the G35 coupe is definitely faster, the difference isn't that much - it's still a driver's race. Look at their 1/4 mile times, there isn't a dramatic gap (the G35c is usually about 0.3 s quicker).

People here act as if the 330 doesn't have a chance, & people on BMW forums act as if the 330 is as fast as the G35 coupe & have their own stories.

 

Thats why they have 330 ZHp

Yeah these kill stories are fun--but they're more an indication of "gearing and guts" than an actual judge of car performance.

Here's why... Suppose you're tooling along at 45 mph and another car comes up along side you. If you drop into 3rd gear, you're not going to do nearly as well in the race as if you drop into 2nd gear. But what if you are both going 55 mph? Now you can't really drop the car into 2nd gear because you're so close to the rev limit, but 3rd gear isn't yet in the power band. If the car you're racing has a 2nd gear that extends to 70mph, he's going to have a significant advantage depending on the top speed ending point. The roles may be reversed as well. In an automatic this is less of an issue--but it is still an issue because the computer will have to decide what gear to go in.

My next point is that these races sometimes have more than one winner. You might be ahead of the guy at 90mph and decide to shut it down--but he's willing to go to 100mph so he eventually passes you. Ergo, you both win.
