clear out headlights, help

im very eager to attempt to do this myself, i cannot stand that orange piece in my headlights, for anyone thats attempted this, is it really difficult to do? and how long does it take?

Is the front bumper hard to remove and put back on? Does someone have a DIY on this complete with pictures? There's a DIY but no pictures at all. I don't want to mess up and end up having to buy new lights, cuz i heard they're pretty expensive... please help...

Re: clear out headlights, help

I know there is a company that does it, and I remember it costing 600-800 dollars, if I remember correctly.

I also remember of someone baking their headlight assembly so as to take off the lens and ended up melting. I don't think it's too hard to take off the bumper, but getting the service manual from nissan-techinfo.com for 20 dollars would be a fine investment, especially if you are going to risk destroying your headlight assembly.

Re: clear out headlights, help

mygunit did it but he still has yet to post any pics.........COME ON MITCH, WHAT'S THE HOLDUP?

haha, he said it wasn't too hard..just gotta bake the housing and take it apart. then you gotta be confident in your dremeling skills and knock that thing outta there.

i think malx did a DIY for taking the housing apart. he took it apart and painted the inside of the housing...looks real nice.

I'm amazed that the hatred of the look of the amber housing outweighs the fear of screwing up a 775 dollar part.

Re: clear out headlights, help

I'd like to see the DIY. I'm curious as to how advanced this process is, maybe it is worth the risk?

Anyways, thanks in advance!

yes i'd be very interested in a detailed DIY guide complete with pictures on exactly what i need to do, including how to take apart the bumper etc. Been wanting to do this mod ever since I got my car but too afraid to do it. and I'm sure others in here would be interested as well.

Nice to see you in here LCA575. I'll make sure to keep in contact with you for black painted headlights.

What are you doing with your IS?

Re: clear out headlights, help

How much would it cost to:

1) Remove amber turn signal and stick a clear LED matrix in its place.
2) Remove stock fog light and retrofit a low beam xenon projector in its place.
3) Rewire and reaim stock HID to make it into the hi beam/fog accessory lamp.
4) Retrofit clearance stripe with 24 hi power LED white lamps.

???? Just wondering because if I win the lottery that's where my money would be going.

If I were to the win the lottery, modification of my headlights would the least of my concerns. I would be putting more thought into where I will be driving my new Enzo.

I wouldn't buy a Enzo even if I win the lottery, I'd get a whole fleet of new and classic Ferraris before I even consider the Enzo.
