Brakes Scraping

Has anyone experienced their brakes scraping? At slow speeds when the brake is fully depressed it sounds like metal is rubbing. Im taking it to the dealer on Wednesday but do you know what it could be?

Thanks

Re: Brakes Scraping

Metal rivet wearing its way into the rotor? It's supposed to be a warning to get new brake pads, but its more of a heads up to start saving money to buy new rotors.

I would look through the wheels at the brakes to see if the the metal rivet on the calipers is touching the rotor. If it is, get your pads changed as soon as possible. If you do not see any rivets on the outside of the rotor touching the rotor, I would remove the wheels and look at the inside pad.

Or just take the car to a brake place and have an inspection.

How many miles do you have on your G?

Re: Brakes Scraping

I have 9000 miles on it and I already had the pads changed about 6 months ago because the brakes were whining. Do you the dealer will replace the rotor?

Thanks for the help

Re: Brakes Scraping

9000 miles and you have already had a brake job? Damn. If you have already had the brakes changed, then it's possible they will give you free rotors. It's possible because either you are riding the brakes like my grandmother, or there is something seriously mechanically wrong with your car. The stock pads may be dusty, but that shouldn't shorten their life by over half of the standard pad life.

Do you ride your brakes like it's going out of style? Just try and think, do you do a lot of downshifting and coasting, or do you wait until the very last minute and ride those brembos?

Re: Brakes Scraping

I dont ride the brakes at all, so I suspect it is some sort of mechanical defect. I am definately going to try and have everything replaced.

Re: Brakes Scraping

IF you are drivin a coupe, then you should have gotten the letter from Infiniti that they are gonna pay for ALL your brake stuff for the 1st 36K miles. I have already had my pads replaced once as well at NO CHARGE. The letter said you are obligated to contact them as soon as you hear any brake noise.......

Re: Brakes Scraping

i think something is wrong with my brakes that is similar. Ever since i got my car, whenever i get a little bit of brake dust on the wheels, everytime i turn the wheel EVEN SLIGHTLY to the left, the brakes rub and make a HIGH bitch whistle sound. I took the car in once before and they washed it and then drove it in circles and could not make it repeat the noise. I am taking my car again on saturday and leaving it. (god it sucks that infiniti doesnt have the service dept. open on weekends) i cant take my car in on a weekday because of work, and its a stick and i dont trust my mom to drive it in there for me.

Re: Brakes Scraping

I also have the same problem, except the scrapping occurs when I drive at a moderate speed say 15 mph and below when im not depressing the brakes. If im over 15mph the sound disappears. I've taken my car to the dealer twice and they just clean the brake dust out of the caliper. The brakes work fine after they clean it but the same sound occurs again. Im getting ready to buy the brembos or some stoptechs Ive had enough of the infiniti brakes

Re: Brakes Scraping

i have 12k on my car--just got the brake pads replaced on Saturday due to the excessive squeaking/squeeling all around annoying noises....and yep they are already squeaking again. I seriously dont know what the hell else to do. I baby the hell out of my car, try to not brake real hard or sudden and they are ALREADY squeaking and squeeling after 3 days of getting new pads!! this is so frustrating
