Re: BS speeding ticket... what do i DO!?

whats with all this hate.... empty road... its straight and im going 90mph..... The fact is... he didnt clock me. I KNOW that in texas u cant estimate speed like that for a ticket (this is because they used to HAVE to show u the radar until january 2004 when the law was changed). I really dont care about the ticket that much... its gonna cost me 35 dolalrs (the judge in my area doesnt let kids pay for their tickets... makes em do community service.. so it'll be 12 hours) and 35 for defensive driving. its not gonna go on my insurance.... its just the fact that the cop lied that pissed me off so bad. I seriously hate some cops... and i seriously RESPECT some cops. I know a lot of constables in the area because they are really invovled in keeping kids out of trouble (not trying to get them into trouble). They take kids home from partys drunk instead of arresting them... and [censored] them over with their parents (same affect except without [censored] kids over with the law... but keeps them from doing stupid underage drinking).. I'm not going to kill anyone... dont be a dick just because im 17 and have the same car that it took u 40 years of ur life to get.... i dont like hearing that [censored]. YES , ur right i didnt pay for my car.... but if ur dad would have bought u this car when u were 17... would u have said no? thats right.... u would have taken it also. Im not a spoiled brat who doesnt do anything around the house.... i work full time, make straight A's in ap classes at a really good high school, made a good SAT score sophomore year, and get along with my parents while staying out of trouble...... thats all i can do as a kid..... its really not the fact that i got the ticket... What other posts are u talking about me being dangerous to ur children? seriously... i asked what i should do.... not what u guys think of me... if u wanna judge me over the internet... get a life... go take care of ur kids... ur wife... SOMETHING... why talk [censored] to a little 17 year old??

and of course you showed no respect to the father who bought this car for you by lying to him.

if you go to court and are under oath, do you plan on lying as well?

If the above is directed at me: Oh lord, here we go... I don't give two craps about your age or whether or not you bought the car. I'm 23 and got it as a college grad gift. I got a brand new luxo sports car on my 16th birthday, and two more over the years. I'm STILL going to stand firm on my stance though... just respect your parents and tell them the truth; they deserve that much.

The only thing I take issue with is that I thought you were whining about getting a ticket-- not about the fact that the cop lied. I can understand being mad at the officer for lying at you, however I cannot comprehend feeling bitter that I received a ticket for something that I did, in fact, do. I hope that clarifies my standpoint. I don't hate you for it, I don't harbor resentment, I just think it's silly to get choleric over an infraction because you got caught.

Good luck with the ticket, and it sounds like you've got a judge and some cops that really know how to make kids learn from their mistakes without ruining the rest of their lives.

Raznips,

Here's what you should do.

1) Tell your Dad the truth about the speeding ticket. Show your father you respect him and show the courage to start a life of integrity. There’s no time to start like when you’re young.

2) Slow down. Having a car capable of driving twice the speed limit does not give you the right to be reckless. A lot of people (and I imagine many who post and read here) have lost loved ones. Some may have lost them to automobile accidents. If you really are 17, you're not old enough to fully appreciate what never coming back means when it's your brother, sister, Mother or Dad. When you vent because you were caught, you've offended everyone whose life was changed forever by someone who didn't get caught in time. A drunken driver, a speeder, a racer, and yes - sometimes just some screw-up.

3) Use that awesome car to change your image. A lot of people know who you are and see you cruising around. Instead of being a poster child for the spoiled - why not make a real difference by driving it responsibly and be known for having exceptional maturity?

PS. I can’t see how you’ve gotten straight A’s in English, but that’s a separate matter.

Who knew you were 17 until you posted your age? And noone really cares if you are some AP, high scoring little high school minor because it has nothing to do with a speeding ticket. Except it does explain why you can't handle the car. Did you post and not expect flames??? you should be driving an IS300.

Re: BS speeding ticket... what do i DO!?

i dont know why,but i never fought a speeding ticket. i always went to court and the prosecutor would always drop the ticket to something lower. i would never get points but just paid my fine and just leave. nice and simple. i like it that way better.

bad thing is, i problably wasted a couple thousand on those stupid tickets. what a waste!!

Re: BS speeding ticket... what do i DO!?

RazNips the point is not that fact that the cop "mis-estimated" your speed, it's the fact that you actually was speeding. You should be GLAD he estimated you @ 75 instead of the 90 you were doing.

Why do people feel that they are getting "bsed" upon when they get a ticket that isn't 100% correct (in this case, it's better off than what actually happened. (getting a 75mph instead of 90mph) and although they did break the law but they just dont' think that matters anymore?

I don't understand?

and after reading the last response by RazNips, I think the admins should give him that 2 weeks conditional ban thing that Ximer receieved....

I think Raznips has got the point, and I'm not gonna kick a dude when he's down. Right now he's emotional and angry for getting a ticket. Once things settle and he cools, he'll see things rationally.
He basicly accepted what happened but didn't like the runaround the cop gave him.
Personally I think Geo's advice for him to come clean with his Dad, and accept his fate is the thing to do.
Come clean, learn from the experience and go on a better person.

I also think this thread has run it's course. So to prevent any more harsh words, I'm going to close it and let Raznips ponder our advice.

Good luck with the issue, bro. I hope you don't get burned too bad, but also hope you learn from the experience.
Remember: that incident could have been much worse for you and your family and possibly others, as many here will attest.
