Grrr.. is it even worth it?

On my way home tonight from a late work night, I'm driving on a 4-lane a residential road (speed limit 35mph) stuck behind an SUV. I see a chance to pass, so I do. Well obviously some idiot about 3 cars behind me sees this as a "race", and next thing I know a Mitsu Galant GTS (or whatever their stupid "fast" model is called) wizzes past me, and cuts me off! I was in no mode to race 1> because I want to just get home 2> because Im still in my "break-in" period, and 3> I know plain well my car can kick a frickin Galant's *** pure and simple.
Am I to expect a race from any idiot driving a car?? I usually only look for a challenge when I know the car next to me can offer one. I mean do I have to floor it next to any car with 4 wheels?? If the moron driving the Galant is reading this, you're an idiot, and your car sucks. Racing you would be like racing a Toyota Supra vs. a Toyota Echo. Thank you.

Is it worth it? No.

But, lemme tell you what a rush it is the first couple of times you punch it when you're not used to the car. The way you are pushed back into your seat makes this car feel like a rocket! Now that I'm more used to mine, I don't get that same feeling anymore. But then again, I haven't taken it up to 6K for a while now.

Oh yeah, I've broken the break-in rule about 5 times.

Re: Grrr.. is it even worth it?

I was driving down I-75 and saw my lane was ending soon. For some reason I decided I would merge right in front of the pack instead of behind. So I gave it a little gas and got me a spot in front of this Celica. I wasn't trying to show him up or anything. I just didn't feel the need to be following a bunch of traffic. Well, obviously it pissed him off because about 5 minutes later here he came zooming past me. I think the fact that it took him 5 minutes to catch up (and after my passing manuever I slowed to a more reasonable speed) should be evidence.

Dont always assume that just becuse its a civic or galant that it aint fast lol if it was a VR4 galant they are quick its turbo'ed. Too me any cars worth race cause you never know what it was done. Like my Civic si i surprised many cars when i went too the strip, people always be asking what i had done lol i was like its stock lol but i had 3Gs worth of engine mods but im ready too settle down and get my g35c, which should be here in may i hope im not disappoint with the g35s power.

Re: Grrr.. is it even worth it?

So far nobody as tried to instigate a race with me in my G35c. I'm hoping that it's because I try to not give off any aggressive "body" language with the G and/or others are too busy looking at my ride to think about a challenge.

That's not to say that I haven't been "pushed" into my "aggressive" driving mode (A.K.A. "road rage") by someone sucking on my tail pipe or forcing me to slam on the breaks because 1) their lane is disappearing 2) they are ahead of me by the length of their bumper 3) they're PC (Privileged Character/Car) 4) they're too impatient/dumb/stupid (pick one) to get in line like the rest of us. That makes me blow their doors off later or ride their bumper to see how far I can push them into exceeding the speed limit.

Now my usual stop light behavior is of three styles (again, without giving off any challenging "body" signals):
1) Auto in "Drive" mode and a light touch on the accelerator. I still get pushed back in my seat, I leave everyone behind by about 6 - 8 car lengths by the time I'm in 5th gear and cruising at 45mph.
2) Auto in "Drive" mode and a heavy foot on the accelerator. Nice Gs (as in gravity), say "bye, bye" to everone else and I'm doing 45mph in 2nd gear before I back off to allow the auto to upshift into 5th. (Yesterday, I unintentionally floored it crossing a main 6 lane hiway. I'd moved my seat forward in order to get better arm position for the winding roads I was driving. This, and the fact that the "fly by wire" accelerator is very sensitive, caused me to accidentally floor the pedal. When I hit the "crown" of the hiway I was crossing I experienced a little negative G force. This manuver, in any other car I've owned, would have been slightly if not terribly uncontrollable due to bouncing of the suspension. The G kept glued to the road. She did not make me feel in any way that I was losing control of her.)
3) Auto in "Manumaniac" mode and a very heavy foot on the accelerator. And we have liftoff! I'm at the next block doing 60mph in 2nd before I can react and back off to 45/35/25mph.

Even with that behavior at stop lights (style #1 is my usual behavior), noone has chased me down and challenged me at the next stop light.
