I've got a 5AT coupe, and over this past weekend i had some problems with the engine. ok, all that is done to the engine is an installation of a cold air intake.

the problem:
my engine stalled, despite it being an autmomatic trasmition, three times over the past weekend. (all occured when in drive, not in "manual/sport shifting mode")
1.) stalled when coming to a stop
2.) stalled when aready stopped
3.) once again coming to a stop

has anyone ever heard of this happening before? if so, what should i do? i wanted to get some replies before i went to the dealership and have them look at it...in case they try to sell it off as some expensive part being faulty and me having to shell out a couple hundred dollars, when it's just that a hose came loose or something.

thanks, Ben

Re: NEEEED HELP!!!
If you're still under warranty you shouldn't have to shell out any cash for them to fix it. do you have any engine mods?

That seems like an odd problem, might have something to do w/ the idler, clogged fuel injection, fouled sparkplugs, ignition problems, etc.

Re: NEEEED HELP!!!
what kind of CAI do you have?
Is your CEL on?
Have you had the CAI on for a while and this just started happening or has this been a problem since you installed the CAI?
Did you install it or did someone else?

things to try:
check to make sure everything is tight and connected properly(maybe uninstall and re-install to be sure).
check filter to make sure it's clean and flows freely(maybe replace filter).
reset ecu.

if everything checks out and is fine, try putting the stock intake back on.

if it still stalls, see the dealer(while stock intake is on). If not, get rid of that CAI and get something else.

Re: NEEEED HELP!!! (engine stalling on 5AT)
Dude I have a 5at with an Injen CAI and this has happened to me a couple of times. One of two ways to fix it. One: Make sure that the install was correct. 2: Reboot the Ecu. This actually does help. Did it and it never happened again. Hope this helps.
