So in my quest to buy oem brake pads I checked different dealers to find the best price. When I saw that riverside SoCal infiniti has them for $60 I called my local dealer to find out how much they charged. The parts manager told me that the pads cost $90 I said wow that's a lot. Then I asked if yu would price match another infiniti dealer and he said why, and I told him that I could get then for 60 but I didn't feel like waiting for shipping so I rather get it from them. So right away he said ok no problem you can get then for $60 just say you spoke to mario. I'm like how did just drop the price without hesitating?

Everything is always marked up, it happens at Walmart too. They are still making a profit or they wouldn't sell them for 60.

When I tried doing that they just told me "I don't see how that's possible, because we get them for $70 and lowest we can sell is $80". That's a bunch of BS because I know they're making more the 10 - 20 bucks off pads. At that point I just clicked and ordered online

From a dealership point of view; we usually will try and match as long as it's viable, more importantly, we try to keep our Driver customers happy and will sell ya at 20% off list, which is usually the best price going. So call or e-mail!

think about it, they're just brake pads. They don't cost jack to produce and the wholesale on them is probably really low as well.

Its a business just like anything else. They don't mind added new customers and giving them deals because when something else is needed where will the consumer look first. He will look toward the place that he got the best deal. And dealership without a doubt make good money off pads and little things like that because the wholesale is so cheap for them. It is a stealership so they are able to lower their prices. But love when they get women and old people in their because they dont know the difference.

he can do that because parts are always marked up. here at Toyota we mark up all our parts 66.6%

That's an odd number to choose, then again, it is a dealership Originally Posted by BloodlineG

You have to be aware that Riverside Infiniti gives us major discounts on all items we buy from them. Most dealerships are going to charge you 20+% more. Why buy OEM pads when the aftermarkets are much better, Hawk or Project Mu....SEARCH for more information.

My Toyota dealership does the same thing... If I call them up and show them where I can get the same parts for some cheaper price online, they're usually willing to lower their price to meet the same price of the online dealer plus the cost of shipping. They're still making money off the deal, which is better than them making nothing off of it if I just go and order it online..... plus they are moving the parts out of their warehouse and freeing up space.

Good point about Riverside.
Regarding aftermarkets being better, it depends on the application. Having tried Hawks, I dislike them for the street. Maybe in warm climes like CA they work fine, but not here in the Northeast. Terrible cold bite. Maybe Project Mu's are better, but I know OEM's work great for my car on the street and I haven't faded them yet, even with autocrossing.
