But yes, you could have gotten in thru the rear trunk.

Anyways, the previous owner probably did something to it.
unfortunately mine did not come with an extra fob as the first owner lost it. the nicks and dents were courtesy of the previous owner as well =T

Please elaborate more on the trunk

when you replace the escutcheon, you have the option of completely removing the key cylinder and replacing it with a blank, which appears to be the case here. Prevents thieves from breaking in, but then you aren't left with an option when you lock yourself out like here.

Your keyhole is behind that metal thing. You didnt remove the full escucheon, just the painted plastic cap of it, or so it looks like...

Maybe you have a black plate that is covering the key hole? Can you check and see if you can remove it?

It would also suck if your car battery died while the car was parked or if your keyfob battery was weak and completely died while you were out at a store with it parked in the lot. This type of no-keyhole setup wouldn't work out for me too good because I winterize and store my car for the winter without the battery in it. The only way I can get into my car after the winter is to use the key to manually open the drivers side door.

its for safety reasons, in case you are not paying attention to the car and rolling up the window while someone's bodyparts are in the way...

and believe me... as much as we have pinch protection, the windows can really **** up your body parts until it decides to 'stop'. thats why they want you to be there holding your key like a 90's car and watch teh windows roll up.
