Got busted doing 114mph
Re: Got busted doing 114mph
i have a v1, usually keep it in my sentra which is my daily driver.
i actually feel safer from the cops speeding in my sentra than G. i guess the more non-descript look. but over 90, the sentra doesnt feel the safest.
04 6mtC, DG - possibly most babied G on the board.

Re: Got busted doing 114mph
Dammn. Don't know how far apart exits there are or how much traffic there was, but I have "heard stories" of people here (exits every few miles) going 120+ and just not bother slowing down. It isn't considered fleeing if the cop doesn't have his lights on. A "friend" was going 130 and flew by a cop and just kept at his 130 and immediatley took the next exit and made a bunch of turns. Think about how fast 130mph is and if a car going 130 flew by you, you would need time to react, get on the highway, and get your car to 130 just to make sure he doesnt put any distance on you....by then he is over a mile a way and exited. But for now........go get a lawyer.
Re: Got busted doing 114mph
I will help you my friend. I got a ticket last March on 5 South for going 110mph. And as far as I know, you DON'T get arrested nor does your car get impounded for exceeding 100mph. Anyway, I had my license taken away for 2 months, got 2 points on my record, and had to pay a 600 ticket. This should make you feel better in a sense that I have just lifted the sense of suspense. Good luck and try not to speed again.

Priceless, LMAO!

Re: Got busted doing 114mph
I found the following in the California state code. It may give you an indication of what could be coming if you go it alone..
22348. (a) Notwithstanding subdivision (b) of Section 22351, no
person shall drive a vehicle upon a highway with a speed limit
established pursuant to Section 22349 or 22356 at a speed greater
than that speed limit.
(b) Any person who drives a vehicle upon a highway at a speed
greater than 100 miles per hour is guilty of an infraction
punishable, as follows:
(1) Upon a first conviction of a violation of this subdivision, by
a fine of not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500). The court may
also suspend the privilege of the person to operate a motor vehicle
for a period not to exceed 30 days pursuant to Section 13200.5.
(2) Upon a conviction under this subdivision of an offense which
occurred within three years of a prior offense resulting in a
conviction of an offense under this subdivision, by a fine of not to
exceed five hundred dollars ($500). The person's privilege to
operate a motor vehicle shall be suspended by the Department of Motor
Vehicles pursuant to subdivision (a) of Section 13355.
(3) Upon a conviction under this subdivision of an offense which
occurred within five years of two or more prior offenses resulting in
convictions of offenses under this subdivision, by a fine of not to
exceed five hundred dollars ($500). The person's privilege to operate
a motor vehicle shall be suspended by the Department of Motor
Vehicles pursuant to subdivision (b) of Section 13355.

Re: Got busted doing 114mph
See its as simple as this, I live in New York and I have a strict code that I follow as a driver and g owner. Speed limit here is 55mph. If I decide to double this "110" I have told myself that I am not stopping if cops try to catch me. Over here if you double the speed limit, they can take your car. I'll take my chances running. Chances of them catching me are slim to nun. Unless they get out the helicoptor. Im waiting for that day lol
Re: Got busted doing 114mph
Well...down here in LA (SoCal), if your caught doing over 100mph, that's considered a misdemeanor - that's what I learned in my Law classes in school - I guess the laws have changed...
Just really depends on the cop and judge. With the cop, he can do whatever he wants - obviously, he was having a good day.
It could have been a lot worse! Good Luck!

Re: Got busted doing 114mph
I got cited for careless driving this morning. Cop said I was tailgating and cut a driver off during a lane change. I did signal though, so I guess that's why I didn't get improper lane change. He said I'm lucky I didn't get reckless driving. Is careless driving points or just a fine?

I got a $260 tix going 90 in a 65 with a V1. (It went off about 3 seconds before I intercepted the cop) Guess she saw me coming and turned on the radar at the last moment. Come on now, 90 isn't all that fast on an empty highway.
<hr></blockquote>
Let's see who can top this one:
In 1972, when I was 20, I got a ticket in Newark Ohio on intersate 80 for going 80 in a 70 MPH zone in my MGB roadster. I was ordered to follow the cop back to the police station where local law required immediate payment in cash, or you go to jail! The fine was only $25, but I only had $6 in my wallet, so I was fingerprinted, relieved of all of my belongings (including my belt - so I couldn't hang myself over a speeding ticket), and put into a cell with an old geezer who was doing 30 days for public drunkenness.
It was about 10 PM, and I was about 2 1/2 hours from home in Oxford, a suburb of Cincinnati. I was allowed the proverbial one phone call, and thank God, was able to reach my father, who despite trying everything, couldn't convince the cops to accept anything other than cash. He ended up driving all the way to Newark and paying the fine. Needless to say, he was NOT amused, but he was MUCH more pissed at the Neo-**** cops than at me.
We got back to Oxford at about 2:30 AM.
Remember, I was only going 10 MPH over the limit...

Re: Got busted doing 114mph
jbaggy...I got an over 100mph on the same stretch of the 5...up in Modesto County (on my way from SD to SF), right...??? Same exact thing happened to me...he flipped a bitch and came back and got me. I rolled my windows down so didn't get a tint ticket, but also gave me 103mph and no front license plate. Hired a lawyer here from SD and he drove up there and it got reduced to an "under 100mph" ticket. Took a traffic school class and slapped some 3M tape on the front license plate to get that signed off too.
Make sure you get a damn good lawyer...my lawyer (family friend) told me that there were 7 other "over 100mph" tickets in courts that day and I was the only one that got out of the 100mph+. He said one guy actually got his license suspended a year and fined over 2 dimes...so make sure you pay a little extra for a good lawyer. If you can't find one I can ask mine if he'll do it again, cause all I paid for were his fees and his Motel 6...he went up there to ride his dirt bike for 2 days...so he didn't mind the drive that much

Re: Got busted doing 114mph
Thanks everyone for the input. I think my best bet is to get a lawyer. I contacted a few yesterday night and left detailed messages. I really cant afford to lose my license for too long. Im pryaing that I will get a judge on a good day. Im also going to call and reschedule the court appointment. Mabye the cop will not come or something. At this point, Im willing to try anything...
