so your saying that the G35 coupe can not beat a Mustang GT?

 

Well, based soley on the numbers a perfectly driven GT should beat a 5AT. But it really depends on the driver. Will he get the perfect launch, how well can he shift etc.... It usually comes down to the driver variable. Like I say, I've beat a few and lost to a few.

Correct, new GT ponies have 260HP unless it's the Mach 1 which has about 305HP. They boosted the compression on the Mach 1 4.6L as well as making it 4 Valves per cylinder instead of 2. Basically the Mach 1 uses the old cobra motor before they supercharged it.

The Mach 1 will spank us, The regular GT is pretty much a drivers race (close with stick GT vs AT coupe), the 2005 will most likely be about 300HP, so that will take us too.

But don't worry, our cars look nicer moving or standing still. We can take them to a wedding or a drag strip! We have the best of both worlds. With a few mods, we can easily take our cars over the 300HP mark without really depleting our budgets!

your original post was mocking him instead of really asking about comparison, no disrespect cause i had the same experience...

nothing againts black people (But they can be a little cocky sometimes)

a group of them were in a v6 mustang reving their engine in my face, so i decided to take them cause they were calling me stupid asian kid etc.

the first couple gears, it was close, but I was still ahead, and eventually when i pulled into 3rd, it was over for them.

however, my friend drives a GT stick, it was really no comparison, the mustang gt is fast. but of course, our cars are more comfortable

 

Like I said in my first post, be prepared for the possibility of a loss against a GT. If he can drive his stick well, he'll probably walk on you, pretty easily since you're in an auto.

To address some of the folks who weren't sure about a stock GT running in the 13's... a simple visit to mustangworld.com or fordpower.net, and a search will give you your answer. Everyone was very excited back in '99 when the first few people started to get their GT's into the 13's. Now it's totally common.

I suspect that those of you who have said that you've beaten GT's, and have lost to GT's have probably run into both stick and auto form. The auto is about a half second slower all around. The conv. is a good deal heavier too... one of those in an auto is a slug.

Yes you shouldn't be so cocky, you never know when you might get knocked down. However isn't it funny how things are just a matter of perspective? If he would have titled his post as "Regular Mustang says he can whip my G!"

Can you imagine the responses then:

"Hell no that cocky Ford driver will get his @$$ handed to him!"

"I've beaten 10 Mustangs in my G in the last month he's full of crap!"

"No way if that Mustang doesn't shift correctly the G will take him by 3 car lengths."


I'll tell you what, I know I'm not getting a G because the chick in a yellow Mustang will leave me in her rearview. As far as I'm concerned when someone says regular Mustang that's the 3.8 V6 with 190 Hp that's the big seller isn't it correct me if I'm wrong.........

 

Im not posting stuff to start stuff with people in this forum....my post clearly says REGULAR MUSTANG! as in V6 mustang...i also said he does have a GT which he wants to race me as well...REG mustang dont think have a chance thats y i said LOL becuz he has one mod and thats an INTAKE....im not being cocky nor am i acting like an hard a....

 

You said he changed the gears out in his V6? Gear change can make a BIG difference in the acceleration of a car.

Phenom. Funny, but true analysis. I've never even gotten close to losing to a V6 mustang, even the V8 ones around here always shut down before we get fast. Why? IT'S SUCH A CHICK CAR!
